ola.fiske Posted January 28, 2015 Share #62 Â Posted January 28, 2015 I am a 28/50 guy, but if I have to pick one lens for the rest of my life I go for a 50. It will be hard to part from my Lux ASPH, but I think I go for my dual range cron because of it's amazing built quality, beauty, small size, sharpness and balanced contrast. Om my black chrome MP. The judgement of the court is that you are in contempt. You are now remanded to select just one lens. And, unfortunately you'll only be able to use it on a Sony A7r... for the rest of your life  Rick

Surely that would b alloved :-) Â Alf - Yes, this would be allowed. With a bit of slight of hand the judge, like wives, surely can't tell the difference between copies of the same lens. I'm going to say hoarding of multiple copies is allowed. Your answer still commits you to the same lens for the rest of your life. Â Rick

jmahto Posted January 6, 2016 Share #69  Posted January 6, 2016 You lost your entire fortune and were only allowed to keep one M-body and one lens. You know you will never be able to buy another lens. What lens would you choose to use for the rest of your life.  Rick   * Note: "the rest of your life" and "fortune" are obviously variables.  Just came back from 4 days Las Vegas trip and shot all the time using 35FLE (I did carry all my gear in my camera bag that stayed in the hotel room all the time). There were few times when I wanted a tighter shot and I had to crop (desert landscape one below). I am attaching three pics to show the versatility. 1)landscape (this was from moving car and I had to crop but I still have around 10megapixel remaining) 2)night shot (f/1.4 helps) 3)daytime general shots Welcome, dear visitor! A miller Posted January 6, 2016 Share #71  Posted January 6, 2016 MATE  Gordon Aha, brilliant minds think alike! I don't have a MATE, but I were in the process of losing a fortune, I would do some backdoor wheeling and dealing and obtain one and keep it forever. I'd rather have the FL flexibility than the incremental clinically superior optics... It is the right answer by a mile...  The 35mm is also a good answer, and I'm not surprised that it has been chosen by most people (which is interesting b/c I'll bet that those who chose the 35mm don't use it the most out of their stable of lenses; which demonstrates the true versatility of the 35mm FL)

My problem would be choosing which of my 35mm lenses to keep. My head says the Summilux FLE (greatest flexibility and peerless quality), my heart says the Summicron ASPH (smaller, perfectly damped focussing action and, being a lens I have now owned four times, is one I am determined to never sell again ). Might have to toss a coin to decide.
gberger Posted January 6, 2016 Share #73 Â Posted January 6, 2016 Started with a 50 on a IIIc in 1946, my M4 began with a 50, and there'a still a 50 on my Zeiss ZI. (M7 and MP now on the shelf due to lousy eyesight)
MarkP Posted January 7, 2016 Share #74  Posted January 7, 2016 My heart says 1.4/50 Summilux ASPH or 2.0/50 APO-Summicron but my head says 1.4/35 Summilix ASPH  I've excluded my 28-50 MATE as I think the OPs question also comes down to preferred FL, not three! efreed2754 Posted January 7, 2016 Share #78 Â Posted January 7, 2016 Since use 8 focal lengths depending on circumstances, tough to choose one. Â Could be 24 Elmarit, 35 Cron, 50 Lux or MATE. Â If place had sufficient light guess M with MATE! Â My we are fortunate to have so many excellent choices.
Herr Barnack Posted January 7, 2016 Share #79  Posted January 7, 2016 The thought of having only one lens is a horrid concept, but if that was the deal I think I'd probably go with my Safari set and the 35mm 'cron that came with it. I prefer the 28mm focal length over 35mm, but the 35 'cron is a good all around lens.  I am experiencing anxiety even theoretically considering parting ways with my f/1.0 Noctilux. Abomination!!
asiafish Posted January 7, 2016 Share #80 Â Posted January 7, 2016 As much as I love 50mm lenses, I'd probably go with the 35 Lux FLE if I was limited to a film camera or my M-E, but if I could have two bodies, one of which being my M Monochrom then I'd go for the 35mm f/2.5 Summarit. Â There is just something beautiful about the way that lens draws, plus it is just so small and light.
