Red Dot Posted December 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went off to the camera store today to pick up a D750, lens and new Ona bag for my wife. Through the purchase of my wife's gift, the Leica display was calling out my name and whispering MP, MP ,MP. The display was relentless and the silver box labeled Leica MP found it's way into the big plastic shopping bag being loaded into my car. Has this happen to any of you? I just want to stay thank you Leica display, I love you too. Happy Holidays all,,,

Echo63 Posted December 24, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 24, 2014 Nope, i never get a chance to listen to the Leica display, because my favourite camera store has installed a "Max" Max is even more dangerous than the Leica cabinet, because he remembers what you shoot with, how you shoot, and what you might be interested in. He also greets you at the door, followed shortly afterwards by a "have you seen........." he then proceeds to show you said item, something you didn't know you needed (or even existed) till it was showed to you. **the above is a tongue in cheek look at my local Camera store, its kinda true, but in all honesty, they treat people like family, i have been buying gear through them for 15 years, and they know me, my wife and my two daughters. last time i was in there, i was holding my daughter, and they pulled a bit of gear out for me to look at. Max took my daughter, basically took her wherever she pointed, got her a chocolate biscuit out of the fridge etc, while i was playing with a bit of gear. There isn't many people i would let walk around with my daughter, and i can't think of another camera shop that would willingly entertain an 18mth old for 15 mins. did i mention i love my local Leica Dealer ? LocalHero1953 Posted December 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 24, 2014 Yes, but I also hear in the other ear the voice of my financial controller "you bought WHAAATT? And it cost HOW MUCHHHH?":D
AlanJW Posted December 24, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 24, 2014 Yes, but I also hear in the other ear the voice of my financial controller "you bought WHAAATT? And it cost HOW MUCHHHH?":D You need a new financial controller. Or perhaps a new organization chart. The financial controller should report to the CEO. You are the CEO, aren't you? Bill W Posted December 24, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2014 My problem usually starts with a glass of wine while sitting in front of my computer and looking at gear.
Jennifer Posted December 24, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know the syndrome I went in to just take a look and have a brief chat and I walked out £10k poorer. Since then, for the sake of my bank balance, I try as best I can to avoid Leica stores. Last time 'I just happened to be passing' (i.e. made a detour, paid the central London congestion charge, drove round for 15 minutes looking for a parking space and then walked 500 yards back to the store) so I took the opportunity and popped in. BTW, I don't know whether it's Leica's practice but Mayfair makes a very nice cappuccino dusted on top with the Leica logo. I played safe and asked to see an APO-Summicron 50 fully expecting that they wouldn't have any in stock. Well guess what, they had one. I didn't buy it, but that damned lens has been whispering "buy me" ever since.

LocalHero1953 Posted December 28, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 28, 2014 You need a new financial controller. Or perhaps a new organization chart. The financial controller should report to the CEO. You are the CEO, aren't you? Yes, I am. Well I think so anyway. But it still seems to be a matter for debate. Often.
Sandokan Posted January 1, 2015 Share #13 Posted January 1, 2015 Whilst in Leica Milan ... there were photos on the wall in an exhibition, all were shouting "I am lonely, take me home!" To my regret, I resisted .... I think I have to go back and buy one.
Red Dot Posted January 2, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted January 2, 2015 it is so good to know I'm not alone. The M-P is simply a fantastic addition to my kit. The Whispers continue and as Thighsplapper stated the lens whispers has now started to say hello, how are you, would you like to see my aperture. Happy New Years... M1945 Posted January 4, 2015 Share #15 Posted January 4, 2015 I don't even have to go to a store or pass by any display... Every time I log on to the internet, all sorts of things call my name . Summilux, Summilux, Summilux..... Oh crap, I just pushed the buy now button..... Oh well, somehow I have to make sure the financial controller does not see the full impact on the checking account. Herr Barnack Posted January 7, 2015 Share #17 Posted January 7, 2015 The black M-P has been mocking me from day one. Seeing as how two days ago I sent my M240 (age 9 months) off to Leica NJ to have the rangefinder mechanism adjusted, it is obvious that I need a back up to the M240 - a niche which the M-P would fill quite admirably. I suspect a cold chill has just now run through my wife's bones, as I now have that which strikes fear into the hearts of wives everywhere: Justification for another Leica purchase. Undead Posted January 11, 2015 Share #19 Posted January 11, 2015 You need a new financial controller. Or perhaps a new organization chart. The financial controller should report to the CEO. You are the CEO, aren't you? Now thats funny. Misogamist attitudes notwithstanding, CEOs are appointed and their tenure is at the goodwill of the chairman of the board. The art is in the fact that generally I am the only one that would have any idea of what is in my camera bag and one silver Leica looks just like another. Have I just found a new selling point for Leica.
