I just checked on my most recent Leica purchase which was my M 240 last January and it has the date stamped on the bar code label. My 50 APO and Noctilux do not but they were purchased over a year and a half ago. Leica it seems made a change possible when they moved to their facility. My APO 50 and Noctilux were both inspected by the same person or at least it is the same signature.

Just checked the plain gray shipping box of my M240 and you are right. There is a date of 2014/03/14. I don't have one for the Noctilux from last year. I wonder if the APO will have one. My signatures from the Noctilux and the M240 were different. Beautiful penmanship. A rare skill these days.

Dealer called this morning and by the afternoon, my APO 50mm (serial number 42905XX) will be finally coming my way.

Is this current and will there be a birth certificate?

There were none in my Noctilux

My 50 APO came last Friday. The serial no is 429053x with a manufacturing date of 10/15/14 on the certificate.

Looks like you got one from the same batch. Mine came from Leica DC and they only got a couple in.

Not sure what you mean by "fine". Physically I see no issue. It's new, only made a few weeks ago. I haven't used it much yet but for what I have I am very happy with the photos. Much better than the Sonys that I have been using for decades. I also bought a M240 so I am going through the learning curve with the camera and manual focusing. I started with a manual camera 50 years ago so I am enjoying going back to my roots.

I think you will be very satisfied with the lens.

Bargain

Pete

Hmmm. I didn't pick up of that auction but personally, I'm not sure whether I'd have risked bidding on that one. No provenance and seller with practically no feedback from buyers and certainly none for such high end camera parts.

Anyone cares to share some?

...I'd just like to see them in full, and will not share them or anything else.

Test shot folder:

All images shot with the M240, almost all of them have no pp done. They are sample shots.

The lens had front focus issues out of the box and a quick drive to Wetzlar confirmed this and thankfully rectified it in a few hours
