Advertisement Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Hi Future2001, Take a look here Dust behind rear lcd. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
neli Posted October 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2014 The new Leica M Edition 60 addresses this issue. Sorry I couldn't resist. No I've never had that problem with either of my two M9 or M240's.
jdlaing Posted October 14, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 14, 2014 There are these tiny creatures called dust mites. The female of the species caries a spec of dust on her back. When the male approaches, and they have rapid intercourse, the spec of dust falls off. As they part company and go their separate ways the dust is left behind.
jaapv Posted October 14, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 14, 2014 Actually it is a bit of a nasty. The cover glass is leaking. The repair means a new LCD which entails a complete dismantling.

Numbers Posted October 14, 2014 Share #6 Posted October 14, 2014 I have a bit of dust under the glass. It happened surpisingly quickly after I got my camera and during the initial pampering period. It doesnt seem to be accumulating.
rclompus Posted October 14, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently had a significant amount of dust lodge behind the top right corner of the LCD screen on the back of my M240. I wasn't able to figure out where it came from. I use the same ThinkTank lined camera bag in mostly street photography in fair weather without difficulty with M8 or M9 bodies. It was even more perplexing when the M240 is supposed to have weather seals not present in previous digital M bodies. I sent it off to Leica NJ who cleaned and replaced the rear LCD cover. No problems since. And no idea how the dust got in there in the first place. Richard
Future2001 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted October 16, 2014 Thank you. I was a little worried. But atleast I know it can be fixed quickly. I have a few jobs upcoming so I won't get it cleaned right now. Steven Kwesi Jones
