  1. I discovered massive dust behind the cover glass of the M10 viewfinder. Can not be removed from outside. No other dust in the camera at all. Never had that problem with any other M. Has anyone experienced this problem too?
  2. Hello everyone, I just spotted some white particles on the far edge/periphery of one of the lens element of my summarit 75 2.5 . I bought this lens used two months ago and at the time I could not see anything. I cannot say 100% but I suspect those particles were not present. They are hard to perceived. I only spotted them while taking pictures of my first born this morning when I was about to fit the cap onto the lens and had a look at inside. The sun was very bright and I could perfectly see them, them were almost shining like crystals ?? Pictures are not affected at all and
  3. So I was ripping around in an off-road vehicle in Sedona and taking some beautiful landscape photos with my Q2. All of that off-roading caused the Q2 to get covered in some fine dust and sand and while the camera worked fine, you could feel the dust inside the aperture ring and dial—it was just a little grindy and you could tell it needed to be cleaned, but otherwise it was perfect. The camera got shipped off to Leica in New Jersey and 2 weeks later they came back with a repair starting point of $2,600! Apparently, they didn't open up the camera or anything and just do a general look at t
  4. Hey everyone! I have been noticing a small hair in the upper right hand corner of my developed film scans. Here is a link: http://imgur.com/a/SjQK8 Was wondering if anyone could give e some suggestions as to where this could be coming from? It seems to move around slightly, and I have used a rocket air blaster on the inside of the camera + lens with no results. Using a lecia m6 ttl with a 35mm summicron f2 asph Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
  5. I just wanted to share something that might help others in their quest for less dust on negs. I am a noob when it comes to developing, and my first several rolls of film were horrible. There were so many scratches, dust, dirt, dog hair and crap on them I thought I'd never create a crap free neg, but I stumbled on a fool proof solution for me! Here are the elements: 1.) I run a hot shower for two minutes to bring the dust down in the bathroom where the negs will hang (I do it at the end of the washing step). 2.) I turn off the air conditioner and put a towel over the floor vent
  6. How often do folks typically need to wet clean their SL sensors? Lately my SL is picking up quite a bit of dust, and I seem to need to clean about once every 8 weeks or so, and I am not in a particularly dusty environment when I change lenses.
  7. Hello everyone, I am new to Leica and forum (not quite bought the camera yet!), and seek some help I have read many threads over the last week on this forum so I am more familiar with the Q and any issues. I have demoed a Q at the Mayfair store London, took a few pics outside the shop, then viewed at home on a big monitor. Very nice indeed ! The lens on their demo was pretty dirty, marks and finger prints all over it ! I didn't know the Q was to order from Mayfair so I popped into another Leica dealer in London who was very helpful to ask if they had stock etc. After rea
  8. I recently bought a used "mint" Summilux 35 ASPH FLE and upon receiving it I discovered the inside of the lens to be extremely dusty. Needless to say, I returned it immediately. I do wonder how this could be possible though - the lens was sold to the previous owner in 2016/10 so it's been used for about a year. I just can't believe a one-year-old lens can have this much dust in it. Is there some type of design flaw with the FLE version that makes it prone to dust? I'm thinking about getting a new one so I don't want the lens to be like this after a year...

  10. Hey folks - I just purchased a secondhand Q on eBay. It arrived today and I've been really enjoying the feel after shooting with a 240 over the last many years. But when I started seeing the images in Lightroom my heart sank. Can you take a look at this and tell me what I'm seeing here? Looks like the sensor is corrupted somehow? Thank you!
  11. Hi, I have an issue with dust in my M10. It is not this often ( Nearby zero ) that I change my lenses. I mostly shoot with my 35mm 1.4 FLE. When I have changed a lens, i do a dust check. Of course, I check the glasses to make sure they are dust free. If it is very sunny, I prefer to shoot with f11 or f16, but always when I see the images results, there is dust on the images. What tips can you give to avoid dust in the M10?
  12. I've recently acquired a very cheap 35mm Summicron v4 M in very good shape. However, the front and back elements are filled with dust (or fungus). The edges don't have any obvious fungus or anything. The are only specs here and there, but mostly in the center of the elements. What do you guys think? Is it dust or fungus? Here are some pictures:
  13. Hi guys, I recently picked up a nice classic M6 with a voigtlander nokton 35mm 1.4 I'm really enjoying the setup. I live on a cattle station in western Queensland, Australia and usually take a camera with me when mustering (herding cattle). As it can get quite dusty, I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on protecting the camera/lens from said dust apart from the usual. I won't be changing lenses as I only have the one at the moment but would expect to pick some dust up when loading film etc. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Butch
  14. Here I want to share my experience on scanning scratched negatives. I thought it might be helpful since recently there are many questions posted on this. I've never owned an ICE capable scanner, so I had to find a solution for covering scratches on colour negatives when scanning them with my Konica Minolta film scanner. Post processing is not adequate in some cases. So 6 years back, I purchased a liquid solution called Rexton Scratch-Match from Adorama. It worked great! You just apply liberally over the frame you want to scan, it doesn't evaporate quickly and stays there. You wipe it off l
  15. Hey everyone, I just got my m2 off ebay and had a look through the viewfinder only to see 2 main very noticeable spots. I attached a picture and the one on the lower left looks much dimmer and looks like a dot and a hair almost? It's kind of light greyish and I think it's a particle or dust but I'm not quite sure. However, in the middle the speck seems much darker (basically black) and more prominent. Could this be separation or is it another speckle of dust (imo it doesn't seem like one). If this has happened to you or you know what it is, any input on how to fix or your thoughts would
  16. I'm thinking of going to the Holi festival in Delhi (the coloured dust thrown everywhere one) this year and obviously want to take my M240. I can throw on a 15mm lens which means I can pretty much point and shoot but what is the best way to protect the whole thing. Is it freezer bags and tape are are there custom options? Many thanks in advance, Dave.
