Avatar Posted August 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2014 Some real winners there. The last shot particularly but really great stuff. What are your settings on the flash and camera? I have the same setup you do and I get confused with the flash settings but don't use it often. What time were these taken..I live about 1 block away from the last shot. A miller Posted August 24, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 24, 2014 Hi Mark - Thanks very much as always. With regard to the flash, I have no idea what I am doing. I just set it to "A" and then "F..." around with the buttons and settings until I get the right exposure. We were at this intersection around 9am on Friday. We would have loved for you to have joined. Best, Adam
Iduna Posted August 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2014 Adam, great stuff and funny also. My favourites are no 2,3 and 9 () The guy waving with this bucks in hand is crazy and the woman absorbed with her headphones is a good catch. The grim little ferocous carpet rat is a hit specially when you look at its lady.
stuny Posted August 24, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 24, 2014 Adam - Excellent, and no, not Cate. B.

Have you tried using the flash off camera? I can't believe the shot of the shirtless guy with the cash..Did you talk with him? so weird to be flashing that much cash. (I sent you a PM but for some reason it's not showing as sent mail..let me know if you do get it and if not, I'll try again)
sharookh Posted August 24, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Adam - Excellent, and no, not Cate. B. Adam, I would have won, had there been a wager!!! A very nice series - I particularly like "it ain't Cate" and the lawyer!! Btw, I'm seeing the separation of greys generated by the MM. I understand what you mean. If they have an MM coming in the M240 chassis and LCD size, I'll pick it up in a shot - cost permitting ;-).......!
A miller Posted August 24, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted August 24, 2014 Many thanks, Iduna, Stuart, Mark and Sharookh. I really appreciate your time. Stuart and Sharookh are referring to the wager we had that the lady in the last photo is Cate Blanchett. OF course, whoever she is, she has an un-natural expression. I took two others on he brisk walk past me that, to me, look more like Cate. I guess we will never know. I did some digging on her ands found out that she has a dog named "Egg," but haven't been able to find a photo of the dog. Mark - The shirtless dude with the cash was shouting angrily down the middle of Broadway just south of 23rd street. Obviously seeking attention, I gave it to him and asked him to rewind a little and continue his rage toward me. As this gave him an even bigger stage, as cars became backed up behind me, he was totally game. One other point of potential interest is that photo #4 is a shot of an (clearly overworked) criminal lawyer on his way to work. When I asked him if he was excited about the fact that it was Friday, he replied, "No, I am excited to get to work." Very odd response, but he was a sweet, and even cuddly, guy. Avatar Posted August 24, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 24, 2014 It's especially fun for me as these are the streets I am on every day. I recognise some of the faces too. Actually, "Cate's" expression is not unnatural...I think deer in headlights always look like that! haha Love that you got the dog midstride looking right at you. actually, is the dog midstride or being lifted by Cate? looks like he's a bit off the ground! Avatar Posted August 24, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 24, 2014 Adam, that's a killer look in number 6! I hope you got the phone number! If he didn't, I will! I recognise her and if I see her in the neighborhood, Adam gave me a great opening line..."Hi, I'm a local photographer and I saw your picture that my friend took...I don't do what he does as it's really rude but wanted to introduce myself" lmao
pauledell Posted August 24, 2014 Share #13 Posted August 24, 2014 Adam, A great series. I especially like No.9 with the expression of the dog as well as its master. They are special. Paul

topoxforddoc Posted August 27, 2014 Share #18 Posted August 27, 2014 Like no 5 & 9. The expression on the dog's face in 9 is wonderful. If cropped, would make a great Elliott Erwitt style dog shot.
