Doesn't seem to look like he send it from his iPhone, I'm not sure what his problem is besides being arrogant and giving the company he works for a bad reputation.

I had several times to do with Mr. Lxxxxx. He always was very courteous and helpful. This is also true for all other employees of the Customer Care, with whom I had contact.

By the way here in the forum we should not publish names of employees. Because the employees have no way to express their opinions. This is unfair.

I have not shot any videos with my camera yet, but it is somewhat frustrating to realize it doesn't work as advertised.

If you have not tried it yet, then how do you know it doesn't work?

Because according to Leica's customer care all cameras are affected? Anyhow I have zero interest in video, so it's not an issue for me, luckily.

It really completely depends on the sound levels around the camera when taking video. If auto-gain is active in a silent room one will of course hear any (electric) noise of the camera. The only cure for that is to limit the gain levels. The question though is: does the beeping noise record in "normal" surroundings which at least some sounds of their own?

While arguing the toss about where lenses are made it was a cowardly way to 'win' an argument in waving the rule book by one of the sides involved (not you Jaap as you only clarified the rules). I mean, what was lost, only a valued and long standing member of the forum and for what, intolerance of other opinions? But I don't see how Lxxxxxx or Leica is coming out of this without being belittled on the one hand, or by (seemingly) openly admitting they are just the backup drones for an unquestioning fan boy culture on the other. So perhaps real names should not be published?

I thought I had contributed positively if Leica staff (who can't answer back) can no longer be vilified personally. Now we just need to stop the bullying of people who can answer back. I acknowledge this would be a step too far for you, but I think it's a positive step.

Mine does it only when i shoot good pics. I would have preferred a bit more noise...

You need the optional sycophant module that whispers atta-boys.

Dear Yip,

I think that Mr. LXXX might have had a bad day, can happen to all of us!

I have been in contact with him recently, and I met him in the new factory in Wetzlar.

I can only confirm that he had been very helpful to me.

All my questions were answered, and we had a very nice chat in his new office.

The problem with Leica’s solution is that a lot of videographers would like to use the EVF. Due to design shortcomings, Leica omitted to put a microphone socket on the MF grip, so you can either use an external microphone or the EVF but not both. Why put a facility on the camera if it is not properly implemented? Not too impressive!
