Landberg Posted April 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to share some photos from my trip to Paris. I used a Leica M4-P with a Zeiss Biogon 35/2.8 loaded with Tmax 400. It´s a great combo! My ”style” of photography is black and white photos with a lot of negative space. The negative thing about negative space is that i often don’t get close enough. The challenge on this trip was to get closer but still use negative space. Did i succeed? erl Posted April 30, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would stop being obsessed with 'negative space' (?) and just keep taking good pictures. You will enjoy them more, I hope.

stephen.w Posted April 30, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 30, 2014 I liked 5, 6 and 7 the best. Not always possible of course, but in 7 I would have tried to exclude as much of the composition other than the gent and the subject of his gaze. I found the details distracted from what was otherwise a very strong image.
erl Posted April 30, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 30, 2014 Negative space - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Thanks Stephen. You just introduced another confusing (to me) term that I generally work with but do not put a name to. Mainly because I try to avoid theorizing. I'm a self confessed lazy person when it comes to theory. I do 'it' but don't think about 'it'.

Bateleur Posted May 1, 2014 Share #13 Posted May 1, 2014 I think you captured, and presented here, an engaging series, the couple back to back on the bench being for me particularly memorable. Personally I think you achieved your aim! Regards Charles
250swb Posted May 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted May 1, 2014 Some great images. I can't help thinking this idea of 'negative space' is a non sequitur since the space has a purpose, so it isn't wasted, it isn't devoid of meaning. So if space around a subject in a street photograph, for instance, reinforces some feeling of isolation etc. (and all the other associations) it is positive to the message. Giorgio Festa Posted May 9, 2014 Share #19 Posted May 9, 2014 Great pictures! To me you did a great job. May i ask how did you develop and scan The negatives? I like their greys scale, tonality and contrast.
