dkCambridgeshire Posted April 25, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 25, 2014 They have security cameras so let's hope there's some footage. Â I recall that an arrest was made in conjunction with the previous daytime robbery there ... and that security cameras at that time recorded some images of the thief in action. Paul J Posted April 25, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted April 25, 2014 That list. Ugh, that's terrible news. Â These guys don't deserve this.
stevelap Posted April 25, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted April 25, 2014 A great shame. It's a while since I've been in the shop, probably impossible for Ivor to make it Fort Knox style secure but let's hope the security camera footage proves useful.

jcraf Posted April 26, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted April 26, 2014 I see from Red Dot Cameras that they were burgled on 24 Apr 14 and lost a good bit of equipment. The website details all items stolen including serial numbers. Â Most will be aware that Red Dot is one of the sponsors of this forum. My thoughts go out to Ivor, Elaine and all the Red Dot team at what must be a traumatic time for them. I hope the kit is recovered soon folks. farnz Posted April 26, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted April 26, 2014 Very sorry to hear that Red Dot Cameras was burgled and I hope insurance covers the loss. I'm glad to see that exotic items that Ivor has collected over the years appear to have been spared and I'm a little surprised that the thieves left the S cameras and lenses. And they took two Digilux 2's? Â Pete.

farnz Posted April 26, 2014 Share #13  Posted April 26, 2014 c. £500 price tickets and still in demand. I still own and use two myself but when sat alongside new £20k+ equipment during a burglary it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  Pete.

Judging by the descriptions of stolen items and what they didn't steal they may not have known anything about Leica cameras and lenses. If so, they may have been amateurs or desperate druggies and maybe there might be some security camera footage. Maybe the police would have an idea who did it if any tell-tale clues ref entry.  dunk

topoxforddoc Posted April 26, 2014 Share #16 Â Posted April 26, 2014 I'm really sorry to hear this news. I hope Ivor and Elaine manage to reclaim everything on their insurance. From another post on the T, I gather that one of the LUF members bought a T the day after the robbery. Good to hear that the shop is ok to trade. Sandokan Posted April 26, 2014 Share #17 Â Posted April 26, 2014 Condolences and heart felt hugs to you both Ivor and Elaine. Hope they catch them. jaapv Posted April 30, 2014 Share #19  Posted April 30, 2014 Reading this thread you would think that someone was killed in the process...that being said the shop owners don't deserve this hit to their business and livelihoods. They seem to be the innocent parties. However, Leica should take note that this is what happens when you smugly charge absolutely outrageous prices for cameras which are absolutely outperformed by their significantly cheaper competitors and basically make yourself out to be a luxury brand. And people are surprised when these things get stolen? Yeah - why should one steal such useless cr@p? As it is it is not very smart to prefer Leicas to steal. Resale of mass products carries considerably less risk of being caught.
jcraf Posted April 30, 2014 Share #20 Â Posted April 30, 2014 On their website, I see that Ivor and Elaine have upped their security systems by appointing a new night watchman, 'Elvis'. Not one to tangle with.....
