In addition to the Leica T, I believe we will see a Leica M 100 anniversary edition (with engraving on top plate and premium price), 2-3 APS-C lenses to go with the Leica T and maybe one new M lens.

And at Photokina, Leica will announce the next M to ship mid 2015.

With new production capability, Leica will ramp up new products to bridge technology gaps with Sony and Fuji.

I am doubtful about a new M. Leica has embraced the three-year cycle for the announcement of really new M cameras rather firmly, it seems. I would put my money on (but not towards ;)) a facelifted M.

Leica just posted this picture on their Flickr feed apparently already with the hashtag #LeicaT confirming the expectations about the name of the camera.

Also the picture appears to represent a block of aluminium suggesting the production material and manufacturing process (the so-called uni-body production).

If Leica had not shown the block of solid metal, I might have guessed a liquid-metal chassis. However, I don’t know if the technology is as far advanced as that at this time and is able to produce items as large as this.

The latest LFI is softening us up to it being an APS-C with an extensive justification that APS-C will be smaller and provide almost the same IQ as an M9 and almost the same DoF control as a full frame camera within 1 stop or so.

What's for certain is that if it doesn't take M lenses with an impossible to obtain adapter, my interest is zero.

We should recognize that Leica is set to expand their market share; that may well entail that this camera is not designed with the average member of this forum in mind, but for a different, new customer base.

Mark,

Even if Leica don’t make an adapter, as long as the focal distance is less than 27.8mm, you can bet others will be offering adapters within days. I had actually hoped it was going to be MFT rather than APS-C, so that I could buy a Leica zoom lens for my Olympus EP-5 but I suspect I am going to be out of luck.

An APSC CMOS sensor holds no interest to me, I'd buy an M8 again

Thanks guys,

anyway, I'm looking forward to the 24th. I'm still thinking that on that day Leica may also - at least - announce a new S. With all the buzz about the Pentax, Phase and Hasselblad, they might want to let that target market know what's coming.

BTW, I noticed in the German newsletter (Erst Ostern, dann stellt Leica nächste Woche neue Produkte vor) the word products was used, plural. Whatever is coming, I'm curious and also confident that it will be premium equipment.

... where dimensional control is paramour in harsh conditions

Tough luck, IWC, it looks like your spel cheka's having a giggle at your expense. I expect you intended to write "paramount" but spel cheka sneakily swapped it to an illicit lover when you weren't looking and is giggling quietly to itself like a naughty teenager behind the page.:o

Although we cannot know if that image is the real thing, I think it is not a uni-body. The back and part of the right side looks to be separate. That would make sense for ease and economy of assembly, machining and maintenance.

Regarding material, isn't it too large to be liquid-metal?

The fact that this body is machined out of one single piece of aluminum alloy makes it a very exclusive camera, - an ingenious design made possible because computerized milling machines has gradually become common in manufacturing industries.

If it were not for this "self-supporting body" was marked Leica T, I would certainly at first glance guessed that it was the outline of the new I-camera.;):D
