wlaidlaw Posted January 13, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 13, 2014 Mine is an Olympus EP-5. This is an excellent little camera with AWB that knock’s Leica’s into a cocked hat. The menu system needs a degree in computer science to work your way through but when you do, you find that pretty much everything can be customised to the way you want it. It also takes my M and R lenses with an adapter. Also at least my 36AF Metz flash works properly on it, which is more than you can say for the SF58 on the M240. The out of camera JPEG’s are almost good enough for you to forget about the RAW/ORF format. The only downside is the 12-50 lens. In due course, I will get a better lens for it. lct Posted January 13, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I keep the M8.2 as back up camera to the M240 but also my main one for soft portraits with the Summilux 35/1.4 pre-asph.
250swb Posted January 13, 2014 Share #8 Posted January 13, 2014 Don't buy a backup camera, buy another camera, one that does things the M240 can't do. Then, hopefully, it will get used. I have MF film cameras, but sticking to digital it is the Olympus OMD-EM5, a super camera, great quality, and you can buy M43 Leica designed primes for it, superb lenses. South Bird Posted January 13, 2014 Share #12 Posted January 13, 2014 Olympus OMD EM 5. Great camera for the things the M240 isn't ideal for. Video, telephoto, even action.
Guest redge Posted January 13, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 13, 2014 what is your first choice as a back up camera? First choice would be another M 240, but I don't intend to shell out another $7K. If something goes wrong with the M 240, I'll shoot film with my M3. I'm finding that I go back and forth between the two anyway.
Bill W Posted January 13, 2014 Share #14 Posted January 13, 2014 M Monodhrom. I have a lot of Nikon stuff as well so I am not without a camera for long. The wife says I have too much stuff. She is not aware of a lot of it. OOPS better keep quiet.

LucisPictor Posted January 13, 2014 Share #18 Posted January 13, 2014 If I had an M (240) my back-up cam would be a Fuji X-E1. Since I don't have one, the X-E1 is my first cam with the M8.
