Mine is an Olympus EP-5. This is an excellent little camera with AWB that knock’s Leica’s into a cocked hat. The menu system needs a degree in computer science to work your way through but when you do, you find that pretty much everything can be customised to the way you want it. It also takes my M and R lenses with an adapter. Also at least my 36AF Metz flash works properly on it, which is more than you can say for the SF58 on the M240. The out of camera JPEG’s are almost good enough for you to forget about the RAW/ORF format. The only downside is the 12-50 lens. In due course, I will get a better lens for it.

Don't buy a backup camera, buy another camera, one that does things the M240 can't do. Then, hopefully, it will get used. I have MF film cameras, but sticking to digital it is the Olympus OMD-EM5, a super camera, great quality, and you can buy M43 Leica designed primes for it, superb lenses.

what is your first choice as a back up camera?

First choice would be another M 240, but I don't intend to shell out another $7K. If something goes wrong with the M 240, I'll shoot film with my M3. I'm finding that I go back and forth between the two anyway.
