Guest Essemmlee Posted October 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 14, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do the Nikon DX lenses work the same as the FX versions on the Leica M with the Novoflex adapter?
Advertisement Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi Guest Essemmlee, Take a look here Legacy Lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted October 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2013 They should, except that the image circle of the DX lens will not cover the full frame Leica sensor. Same as like putting a DX lens on a Nikon FX body - you will have to crop the resulting image to the DX size.
01af Posted October 15, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2013 As an addition to what Luke said—it's possible that some DX lenses will cover the full 35-mm frame. Candidates are zoom lenses in the upper part of their zoom ranges. For example, I have an 11-18 mm APS-C wide-angle zoom (not Nikon), and it fully covers the 35-mm frame when set to 15 - 18 mm. The Novoflex LEM/NIK adapter will happily accept both FX and DX lenses. It's solely you who's in charge to make sure the frame gets covered. If it doesn't then crop the picture appropriately at post-processing time.

And macro lenses at closer focus settings (the Canon 60 EFS covers full frame at closer than about 30cmish as an example).
Luke_Miller Posted October 15, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2013 Haven't tried macros, but when the DX zooms I tried on FX did cover the full sensor they were REALLY soft in the corners.
