Oh dear! The L-Camera Forum is fragmented into way too many subforums already—and now there's yet another (two, actually) ...

 

Oh well. Now the "M" should be removed from the "Leica M / M9 / M-E / Monochrom" forum name, as it now is obsolete there and will lead to future confusion. Or better yet, move it over to "... / Monochrom," as that camera's name really is M Monochrom.

 

Now can we have separate forums for each of the Leica M, Leica R, and Leica S lenses, and then a few more for Zeiss, Voigtländer, Konica, and other lenses, and then two of each, for analog and for digital use ... not! Just kidding; this was a joke! A joke! Arrgghhh ...

The separate subforum for the M was perhaps well meant and I am sure it was a lot of work to move many threads from the former M/MM/M9-Forum to the separate section.

 

Unfortunatlely now we have two subfora for the M: one under the headline "M (type 240)" and another together with the Monochrome and M 9 etc.

 

Its not just the headline, its the content. In the "old" subforum there were many threads about the "new" M without mentioning "Type 240" in the title. They still rest in their bad neighourhood of CCD-Sensor-Ms. Just a few examples from the last page - it goes on like this for one year:

I am not demanding that someone took the effort moving all this to and fro. I am sure users will go on mixing up sections as they did before. Sometimes it may be wise to think twice before doing something which is certainly well meant.

I'm sure that the remaining M in the old forum name is just an oversight and that it will be changed shortly.

I'm also sure that pretty well everyone will get used to the new layout and that new Users won't mind at all because they won't know the difference.

The M240 has already generated a lot of discussion and it has only just be launched and is scarcely available. It was inevitable that a dedicated forum would be needed - and even I, who was the second person in the thread to support a new forum, now finds it a bit awkward getting used to the new structure. However, I see a benefit and I know that in a week or so it will all seem very comfortable and normal.

The old stubs will drop out of the M9/M-E sub-forum after a while leaving just the relevant threads.

A German mod will have to go through the German side of things

I noticed a little while ago that the FAQ threads for M9, MM, and M240 had been combined. Are there plans to split out the M240 items into their own thread again?
