For those who wonder about the XV's ability for portraiture, here is a grab from a while back of my daughter. Converted to B&W from DNG.

Thank you Goatsby. The intensity of your daughter's expression in this photo is reminiscent of an early digital photo of my daughter taken at 21/2 years of age. Thank you for sharing and yes it serves as a great example of portraiture using X Vario.

And nice to see all these images just posted in the past 24 hours :)

Here's another from Eastern Greenland.  Fjords just full of icebergs of all sizes, many having broken off or "calved" the night before, waking us all up.  That lens sure has bite.

Fun to see these latest images photomic, Leica X and pwsmith.

pwsmith-  You mention with your striking image that the lens has bite. I concur that is the case in spite of what was mentioned in reviews as a "weak" AA filter.  I have compared the X-113 (with my own informal testing) now that I have both. The X-113 also has AA filter but my finding is that both cameras have a similarly "weak" AA and both produce sharp images.  I mention this because I find these cameras have plenty of edge or bite. If I have my issues with some things that Leica has done regarding design, their use of an AA filter is not one of them.  They took great care in designing the lenses on these cameras and I don't think they compromised them with the filters. Maybe I'm missing something.

The Leica X Vario is such an inspiring camera!

And how it reproduces micro contrasts is unique!
