Speaking of weight...  I bought a Nikon F2 Photomic against all reason late last year! Fortunately, there have been some good things said on this thread lately about Nikon F series cameras and manual focus lenses (@John Robinson, @Ouroboros, @Charles Morgan, @bags27) which help me feel better about the purchase.

When it comes to the taking of the picture (as opposed to all the work of scanning and digital post-processing), there is something quite compelling about picking up a camera from the 1960s or earlier.  For those of us who were there at the time, it is a reminder of how it was when such cameras were the best we could hope for; for others perhaps an opportunity to admire the quality of design and engineering that went into them.  Either way, it has a strong affect upon the way of looking.

Herewith some fragments of the history of photography, taken with a Leica SL (601) and Micro-Nikkor 3.5/55.  I should say that it is getting hard to find a Photomic head for a Nikon that still works, hence the "plain prism" for a completely manual approach (just like the M3).
