M11 for me Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1701  Posted June 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) We have to assume that this is it now. Why the hell are they not able the spread the info officially through their web page?  I feel this is arrogance and ignorance and just having business and figures in mind.  Have a good day anyway  Alex

M11 for me Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1703  Posted June 11, 2013 What exactly are you waiting to find out so desperately?  That there were all fakes up to now. I am sorry but I expect the info from Leica.  Best regards, Alex  PS: I find no smilies on the iPad. . .
stunsworth Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1704  Posted June 11, 2013 A good proportion of those people, might also look at forums, and If they were to venture onto this one, they would be dissuaded away from this camera, as the majority of Leica "Fans" have expressed disapproval or disappointment with regards this " much anticipated" release  That's happened with just about every new camera I can remember being released, from the M6TTL (it's taller than the M6) to the M8 (it needs filters) to the M9 (it's just a M8 with a full frame sensor). philipus Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1707  Posted June 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wow, so it turned out to be true then. What a disappointment.  There's a brilliant quote by Phil Schiller, Apple's marketing chief, at yesterday's WWDC keynote, presumably in light of the criticism that Apple's innovation has stagnated. Having introduced the new, truly groundbreaking Mac Pro, he said "Can't innovate anymore, my ass".  What the hell has happened here? Leica seems to completely have lost the plot. They even talk of a "fast Leica lens"...  Leica Camera AG - Photography - X Vario  Couldn't they have taken the amazing Vario Summicron of the Digilux 2 and put it on this thing at least? Bill W Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1708 Â Posted June 11, 2013 Has it been announced what the Vario X will cost? I should have not looked at the manual. Â I just saw that B & H show it for $2,850 "pre order" of course.
StephenPatterson Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1709 Â Posted June 11, 2013 I'm very impressed with the layout on the back of the X Vario. If this thing had a M mount instead of that truly pathetic zoom lens I would probably buy one. Even without full frame and built in EVF it would make a great backup. But there is no way I would ever buy the "Mock M"
bybrett Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1710  Posted June 11, 2013 "Leica bosses hope it will appeal to existing owners of M and S-system cameras, as well as new customers who might otherwise be tempted to buy a DSLR, for example. The £2,150, black-finished, model carries the ‘heritage' of Leica's M family, according to a Leica UK representative at a pre-launch briefing in central London." mjh Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1713  Posted June 11, 2013 Couldn't they have taken the amazing Vario Summicron of the Digilux 2 and put it on this thing at least? If they believed that customers would be content with a 10.5–34 mm (equivalent) lens suffering from severe vignetting, then yes. The Digilux 2 lens was for a much smaller sensor (about 1/3 of the image circle required for an APS-C sensor).
dkCambridgeshire Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1714 Â Posted June 11, 2013 The lens does have a filter thread but so far I cannot find any mention of the thread size; the lens hood screws into the filter thread. If I bought the camera I'd like to use it with c/u lenses to improve on the 30cm minimum focus distance. Given that Elpro R lenses work very well with the X1 and X2 it should be possible to use them with the X Vario camera too. Â dunk
digitalpowershot Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1715  Posted June 11, 2013 Oh yeah, my bad. It was a briliant "teaser", that's right. And when may I ask is the big exciting reveal? Tomorrow you say? Oh golly goodness gosh how terribly exciting! What could it possibly be? I can hardly sleep! Tingly tingle all over my spine! I appreciate you kinda have to drink the kool aid Michael, but I still say this is stoooopid marketing.  Next time Leica will announce the NEXT BIG THING (="a teaser") for a rebranded P&S-Pana... Hey, it's just a teaser
Guest malland Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1716  Posted June 11, 2013 I don't understand the reason for all this sarcasm, which is really tiresome. Clearly, not many photographers here are interested in such a slow lens, particularly f/6.4 at 70mm-e, but it is an attractive camera and Leica is either right or wrong about its estimate of the market. We'll see. But spare me the sarcasm.  —Mitch/Bangkok Paris Obvious [WIP] Eggleston said that he was "at war with the obvious"...

StephenPatterson Posted June 11, 2013 Share #1718 Â Posted June 11, 2013 But spare me the sarcasm. Â Yes, we should just stick to specs. Â OK, the specs of the Mock M suck...but ain't she pretty?
