Ha! They can expect them "part way through next year".

Well here's how the forum reaction will pan out...

If they're available ex-stock "They're not selling it's a flop, told you so".

If they're not available ex-stock "Leica are a joke, I want to buy one of these and I can't".

If, as looks to be the case, it's an X2 with a zoom, then I don't see the problem. If anyone is waiting for Leica to produce a camera that's _cheaper_ than the opposition they're in for a long wait.

Yes ;), but there is still a 10% chance of APS-H... which to make the bet an honest one, could put YOU at the risk of 9 bottles... (or a 9x value SINGLE bottle... I will think of something special.... :D)

Who said 9? :eek::D

If the rumours, which seem increasingly firm, are correct, an X2 with a slow, narrow range zoom and no built in VF, what a disappointment. It's hardly worth all the hoopla and a bit of a weak effort from Leica. It seems to me, other than a better sensor, it does less than my Sony R1 did in 2005, 9 years ago. It had an excellent Zeiss 24-105/f2.8-4.8 lens, a built in viewfinder and an APS -C sensor.

People! The "leak" is real, so need to speculate anymore. C U on 11th of June, blaming Leica not to fulfill the expectations they created. "Mini-M" :D:D laughing already...

As real as that photo looks, no camera manufacturer shows an equivalency factor on the zoom ring. The focal length is the focal length and that lens isnt not a 28 to 70 unless the camera is full frame. A Fuji 18mm is not labelled 27mm because of its 35mm equivalence.

Except Leica... They did on the Digilux 2 and this seems to be the flawed successor to it.

Please keep up. Earlier in this thread someone made exactly the same claim, and was promptly stomped on by everyone who owned a Digilux 2, whose 7.0-22.5mm lens had a zoom ring marked with the full-frame equivalent focal lengths (28-90). See e.g. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Digilux_2.jpg

Also, at least some of the Ricoh P&S cameras display the FF-equivalent focal length on the LCD as you zoom, not the actual value.

Right... so (unless they want to revive the Digilux2 look) one of the three :

1) Is a FF (too little lens, I'd say)

2) Is a 42-105 equiv. APS (stupid range, I'd say... less stupid for APS-H... around a 35-90)

3) Is one more fake.... :p

Leica has provided a brilliant marketing campaign...for the Sony RX1

I agree...as I said before if this was an RX1 with Leica badge folks would be head over heels about it. Maybe there is a red dot sticky for the RX1?

... no camera manufacturer shows an equivalency factor on the zoom ring.

As a matter of fact, this is, and has been, perfectly common in digital compact cameras with a permanently built-in zoom lens, from many manufacturers, for more than a decade now.

Funny how this discussion reminds me of all those hints and evidences which "clearly show" that the moon landing missions must have been faked

It obviously got this zoom rocker at the shutter release button..

Next week will mark a new record in the most expensive regular compact camera ever sold ....

Keep up? Are you kidding, I cant say I have managed to go through all 1300 posts no. But the Digilux 2 is as pointed out.

Many cameras from the past decade though? Please tell me what they are I've certainly never seen one. Equivalency on the LCD is one thing but the lens labelled that is something else. It is odd that Leica be the one to do it though.

One that comes to mind, and is kind of in the same vein as the rumored Leica, is the Sony DSC-R1. The lens was labelled 14.3mm - 71.5mm on the front, but the zoom ring was labelled in fullframe equivalent terms:
