kaninsexy Posted November 1, 2013 Share #181 Posted November 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) May I ask something about this as well since my uncle somehow get a hand on this 50mm APO which he'll give it to me by next week (for the graduation present). However, I just sold my M and getting back with my M9 and I love my Noc 0.95 view and probably gonna sell this one (This is the new stock that already fix the issue that some people get from the first stock). So my question is how much should I price this one anyway.

platypus Posted November 5, 2013 Share #188 Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks Ted Lemon, I really appreciate your comment. Though that shot was taken with the M9 and Noctilux 0.95 combination months prior to the arrival of either the Monochrom or the APO 50, and it is due mostly to shear luck. The storm, the light and the cows and me all aligning in that moment = the magic that is photography! Incidentally I was also lucky not to have been struck by lightening. Ted Lemon Posted November 14, 2013 Share #190 Posted November 14, 2013 Checked with Leica Mayfair today. Have had no new stock for months. No idea when production/deliveries will start again. I think they will wait and produce in the new factory - or not as the case may be......
algrove Posted November 14, 2013 Share #191 Posted November 14, 2013 That new factory will not be fully functional at the earliest the end of Q1 but more likely in Q2, 2014.
Ted Lemon Posted November 15, 2013 Share #192 Posted November 15, 2013 That new factory will not be fully functional at the earliest the end of Q1 but more likely in Q2, 2014. So - if the production does not restart in current factory - assuming it has stopped - and then restarts in new factory I will hopefully get the APO50 in Q3/2014! As the lens is still on the price list I also assume Leica will continue to produce it. It would be nice to receive a communique from them to say that those on the waiting list will eventually get one. Its not the end of the world (for me) but we have our deposits tied up with the order and although the lens has gone up in price, and we have price protection, its still a chunk of cash. algrove Posted November 15, 2013 Share #193 Posted November 15, 2013 Agree communication and managing customer expectations are not Leica's strong points. In fact it seems to many it is not even a consideration for Leica in most instances.
Nicolas Soldati Posted February 1, 2014 Share #194 Posted February 1, 2014 According to a phone call I had today with my dealer who had first hand info from Leica, they are ready to restart the production of the APO 50 soon. The optics remain unchanged but they have redesigned the interior of the lens cell in order to reduce reflection. He also told me that the quality will be better than the Zeiss Otus. The best 50 ever. (Time will tell us if this statement is true). I have been told that they will begin distribution in 2-3 month. So I can expect to receive mine in april (ordered on sept. 9th 2012....yes 2012). So cross fingers.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest odeon Posted February 2, 2014 Share #195 Posted February 2, 2014 ... So I can expect to receive mine in april (ordered on sept. 9th 2012....yes 2012). I think, your lens will be a heritage to your heirs.
marknorton Posted February 2, 2014 Share #196 Posted February 2, 2014 Question is, if Leica have redesigned the lens, should we be pressing them to exchange old for new?
gpwhite Posted February 3, 2014 Share #197 Posted February 3, 2014 Question is, if Leica have redesigned the lens, should we be pressing them to exchange old for new? Hmmm... you mean so that a new thread could start about which version of the lens is better? And, of course, there is the follow-on thread about which body is best for which version... I would guess the 50 AA-u is best on the M8u?
helged Posted February 3, 2014 Share #198 Posted February 3, 2014 Question is, if Leica have redesigned the lens, should we be pressing them to exchange old for new? An official notification would be in order, with an offer to upgrade the lens. For those that fear a lens-upgrade could imply an quality-downgrade, one can simply let the lens remain on the body... And of course, a thorough test of V2 would include V1 in the mix. Welcome to the 50 AA Version X Perpetuum Mobile... . On the serious side: Yes, I am waiting for an official statement from Leica. FPB Posted February 3, 2014 Share #199 Posted February 3, 2014 .... On the serious side: Yes, I am waiting for an official statement from Leica. Me too. The handling of this issue by Leica is getting ridiculous in some way. Bill
