koala54 Posted May 15, 2013 Share #61 Posted May 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Another line to add, Lou when you finally decide to dispose of your other eight 50mms, make sure you double check that you are not shipping out the APO 50 by mistake.....
Advertisement Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Hi koala54, Take a look here APO 50 delivery status. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted May 15, 2013 Share #62 Posted May 15, 2013 It's easy to spot, but I must say it looks very close to the "normal" 50/2.
platypus Posted May 15, 2013 Share #63 Posted May 15, 2013 Maybe everyone should quit obsessing over this (delivery status of the APO50). A watched pot never boils.
macjonny1 Posted May 15, 2013 Share #64 Posted May 15, 2013 Just like the noct , and the 35 FLE, the 50 APO will be readily available some day. I can find a noct quite easily now...
Ted Lemon Posted May 15, 2013 Share #65 Posted May 15, 2013 Maybe everyone should quit obsessing over this (delivery status of the APO50).A watched pot never boils. I agree. On the resurgence of this thread I contacted my (UK) dealer yesterday who said they have no idea when my long ago pre-ordered 50APO will arrive - quoted manufacturing issues - but I suspect they are just saying that to cover the embarrassment of Leica not telling them what is going on (a common issue with the company and its dealer channel I am told). I shall now forget I ordered it and hopefully my pot will boil sooner rather than later!
alexander Posted May 31, 2013 Share #66 Posted May 31, 2013 Every dealer I have talked to since the first batch came out around 1 Feb has said they have not seen any since then and many believe that they only made around 50 for that first batch. This could go down as the rarest Leica lens pretty soon as the R 35-70/2.8 had only about 155 made from what I hear. Maybe production costs are to high due to glass cost .... and they will stop production soon - like with the R 35-70/2.

enboe Posted June 2, 2013 Share #71 Posted June 2, 2013 (from a popular southern California radio commercial series). I thought I would refer you to the unsold one I saw in Orlando in April. The dealer only sells over the counter, no shipping. It will be interesting to see if it is still there in July when I visit again. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/275342-m-240-deliveries-15.html#post2378173 I had the very good fortune of finding my example in the first release wave. I could have bought the one pictured above, but I don't need two and don't want to scalp another Leica enthusiast. I know my post helped connect someone to the pictured 10770, although I have slight regret as my 10771 is taking a very long time to arrive. Weird suggestion - we need a gold star feedback system on our user IDs for every time we help another enthusiast connect with a product at or below retail (for new) or market (for used). Bill W Posted June 14, 2013 Share #73 Posted June 14, 2013 Hopefully Leica produced a few and some will reach the states.
koala54 Posted June 14, 2013 Share #74 Posted June 14, 2013 As my pot is not even simmering let alone boiling, I cannot help it but to say enjoy your new APO. Maybe get to shoot with it in winter at Bryce Canyon.....

George Furst Posted June 15, 2013 Share #76 Posted June 15, 2013 I and many of my fellow Korea Leica Club members LeicaClub.net are waiting for this lens. I am not aware that any have arrived in Korea and the Leica dealer, Bondo Camera, says that they do not know when they will arrive. I already have a bundle of cash down on one, but meanwhile I am enjoying the posted pictures using this lens. I plan to use it on my M (typ 240) that did arrive. koala54 Posted June 15, 2013 Share #77 Posted June 15, 2013 So any idea how many APOs out there with end users? Is everyone completely happy with it? Or are there users not happy and selling out? The rational for my query is, it is a long wait for a lens that cost an arm and a leg, and not being completely satisfied after that is a big let down for sure. algrove Posted June 16, 2013 Share #78 Posted June 16, 2013 koala 54- I am very let down by mine. If I get another I will sell it to you. Trouble is the Nocti, Lux and APO each have their own characteristics so be prepared to keep all three. Even the 50 cron has its own look too. Hi Algrove, what do you like and not like (apart from stratospheric price and limited availability) about the 2.0/50 APO-Summicron? Mark
algrove Posted June 16, 2013 Share #80 Posted June 16, 2013 Mark- The detail this lens produces is phenomenal. Sometime in May I posted some shots taken with it on my first real outing with the M in the Dry Tortugas. I get no distortion with this camera/lens combo. Files very easy to work with. What was even more amazing to me, after seeing comparison shots taken with the S +120 Marco with step focusing (taken just beside me in the same lighting), where I took a single f 8 shot that to my eye was more detailed than the S composites. Check the Reddot forum if you cannot find it here. Both the S shot I describe and the same M+APO 50 shots are shown under the Keys trip.
