Walked around the lake for a casual dinner Wednesday night... sun was going down, air temperature was a perfect 74 degrees. As I was grabbing my wallet, phone, glasses etc., I noticed the sun was really playing nicely of the water and the bridges. For some reason, I grabbed a camera from the case and my hand went to the black Panasonic DMC LC1.... ah, the step child. :)

Not quite a 40 minute spread over these four images. The first two were on the way to the restaurant, the third and fourth at different intervals during dinner. Nice night.

Anyway, yet again I'm reminded of the magic brew tucked away inside these cameras.

With a "new" boxed Leica M5 due to arrive this week, I thought I'd go shoot some black and white in preparation of kicking it old school with some 35mm film. So with the trusty old (actually a new one) Digilux 2 set to B&W white balance, I got together with my favorite model Chelsea and did a one outfit, one location, one camera shoot. Boy was it nice to just wheel around with the Leica in rapid fire. So nice not to be wasting time scrolling through menus and taking the camera away from your eye. It was awesome

But enough about the camera... get a load of Chelsea. Oh my.....

John,

I'd like to officially apply for a position as your assistant. I could look after the models for you to give you time to sort out the camera(s), lighting, location and all that, er, really important stuff.;):D

Excellent shots of Chelsea; I shoot a lot of B&W D2 jpegs and they look good right out of the box imho.

Pete.

Dear Digilux2 photographers

There has been no website that compile and expose our portfolio using this lovely camera. There for being published temporarily

leica-digilux2-user.tk

Leica digilux2 user embassy

Which promote D2 user work. In this website we can promote our best portfolio and published books. Picture are zoom able and link directly to the photographer's website.

There are some pictures that have not been linked yet because I don't personally know the address of website/blog/FB/Flickr that user in the Leica forum uses.

Because of that for some pictures I used ©username in the Leica forum. For some that I know i've already put full name and website link to it.

if there is some pictures that you personally don't want to be published/edit/updated you can just contact me on FB. By giving you leica forum id, name, fb, or flickr so i can connect the photo directly to you.

On the upper right on the web will feature user photo I only capable of collecting some. so if you want to participate just upload your picture using D2 or give me link of picture that you'd prefer so i can put it on the web.

For best viewing

safari, firefox,camino + flash plug-ins

To browse just click and drag (left, right, up, down)

To zoom one click on the desired picture and to go to the photographer web another click on the zoomed picture. to zoom out click on the blank space between the zoomed picture.

Sincerely,

Prabu

i haven't visited this thread in a long while, so it hits me kind of "fresh" to look at (hope that is not too ambiguous).

what i sense at the moment is that the D2 urges a kind of . . . um . . i guess a photographic ambience (genre? style? character?) out of the person using it.

for certain, i take more intimate photos with the D2 than with my other stuff. actually, when i need an intimate shot of something or someone, i do whatever i have to do to set it up for the D2 at iso100.

well. . . . i meant to say that these images here are even better than they were when i last visited . . . the magic you D2 guys are making gets better all the time.

Shot of my new toy shot with the Digilux 2. I'm hoping there won't be any issues of camera envy when they're on the shelf together. I did notice the Digilux 2 being a bit feisty and uncharacteristically underexposing for these shots. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Shot of my new toy shot with the Digilux 2. ...

Congratulations to this nice toy!

I got mine in March 2004.

I used since those days many other cameras, but occasionally I take the D 2.

And later on,

I found that I took some nice, distinctive shots!
