Dream Vs Reality

courtesy and copyrighted @Djayawarman Alamprabu

...beautiful photograph...did you manually focus the shot?...

Thanks Tomas

I was on riding a traditional rickshaw in Solo (central Java Indonesia) and saw the adv and the woman from a far. So i remembered preparing the the focus manually and take the shot when the rickshaw pass them.

An imaginative juxtaposition. Was this a commercial laundry, judging by the piles of laundry inside and the fabric poster?

Thanks Wda

The adv was a beauty soap commercial it was not for laundry commercial, while the woman was doing some laundry. I like how the facial expression gives opposing idea with the adv. The Adv message is actually Cream but thanks to the wind which made it looks like "Dream" instead of "Cream".

Paper thin leaf

It was the very first time I accessed this section of the Forum last evening, after having re-discovered my old Digilux 2 (complete in its original box) in one of my garage's shelves.

After having looked at several threads, I decided to make some tests. First surprise : the battery had still enough charge to fire 20 shots. Second point : it was nearly six p.m., and the light was fading...to say the least.

Finally, I was quite satisfied with the results - that have nothing to do with art, indeed !

Here are some examples, all originally 1.19 to 1.65 MB in my files, but reduced to 286 to 494 Kb to comply with the Forum's "1,024 max." rule. I especially like the colors.

Advertisement (gone after registration)

I've said this before, this 5 megapixel camera produces beautiful images, especially skin tones, in color and B&W. Under the right right light, it is a jewel. It is a great portrait camera. The lens is simply one of the best in its class. It is a shame it was never developed further by Leica, with a CCD sensor, as in the M8, M9, and MM.

I may have posted this photo before, it is one of my favorite portraits ever, with one single light source.

Digilux 2 250th at F4

Gotcha !

My brother was throwing the bread, I was trying to catch them, still not fast enough to catch these hungry gulls .

Regards

Mike

The Leica X1 will give you the similar Digilux 2 photos, have a look at these examples, very similar, life like .

Brian, welcome to the forum!

I have both D2 and X1. While what you say is partly true, the experience is a world apart. It is the pure handling of the D2 which holds its owners in thrall. While the D2 has a faster and more flexible lens, the X1 wins on its compactness, IQ and simplicity. I find it difficult to see these two cameras as alternatives. In fact the D2 could better be compared with the X Vario.

Digilux 2... "long time no see!", I thought to myself and took her for a ride under the sunset sky.

Straight out of cam, added only the frame.
