A few miscellaneous B&W's from the last year, tweaked in NIK Silver EFEX.

Wonderful BW images!

The last one with the nice lingerie Lady remember me one of my 1st shots with my Digilux 2 some years ago in City "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" when looking to a window in a shop and realized a nice reflexion:

Thomas, magnificent colors, and an almost spiritual, transfixing reflection! :)

Sifting through my photos, a few more images:

Some experimental...I call it "shadowdance" :)

Sitting in a train station in a cafe and looking at the rush hour in the evening people passing by. Setting the digilux in a table, I made some longer time exposures swinging the camera horizontally or turning the zoom ring during opening the shutter. The latter can only be done with a Digilux 2, no D-Lux, no V-Lux (after number 1 model), due to electronic zoom. So also the D2 is unique for that feature as a compat digicam.

Thomas, some very ethereal images! Thank you for sharing this creative and "outside the box" suggestion. I look forward to trying this technique. :D

Thanks, it´s just a stair and a beautiful little Leica :-)

Rainer

Yes, and this little beauty does - in combination with an "eye for a good picture" a very good job. This is not only a photo, it is like a like painting!

After using some different compact cameras in the past (Leica and non Leica), I think often if a camera does not show what your impression was, I mean in a techical way AND in a kind of art/impression, it is not well for doing the job, because one gets disappointed when browsing the pics on the screen at home. With my D2 ,I mostly have not that feeling, and if, then I have to say I made a maistake when composing the photo. Finally I think a camera should not be the limiting factor when making photos. Often people say that a good photographer can make good photos with a cheap camera, but I think only becasue he knows the limit of that cams, and he takes care about that. Normally when I as a non-professional take pictures, the camera shoud not be the limiting factor. So if I ever - from my opinion- reach a status that the D2 would no longer fit my needs, because she is limiting my way of making photos, I would change the cam for a better one (and "better" means not sensor-size or changeable lenses or Megapixel!) . Sure, at the moment that time is far in the future ;)

and even I own a D-Lux 5 and a V-Lux 1 (and maybe I will look for an X2) I will not sell my Digilux2 and hope for many photo experiences in the future with her...

Yes, and very kind from you.

Keep your Digilux 2 besides whatever will come in future. I owned a LC1 ... and after a time I sold it for a Nikon. What a mistake! So I bought a second time a LC1. The Nikon changed from D50 to D80 to D300. I did some jobs with the Nikons, but the IQ didn't raised with the new models. And the LC1 was still making just fun to work with. So I thought, why not buy a real Leica, the new M8.2 and sold all the stuff and also the second LC1. The M8.2 (btw. it is the most beautiful digital Leica :-) with lenses from 15-90mm is my queen, makes a incredible job, but you have to be careful to bring it to a limit (noise, IR-Filter, focuspoint, rangefinder, ...) That means the M8.2 wants to know very exactly what you are going to do and you will know already, how the story ends. For playing and looking around, I bought again, hm not again a LC1, this time a Digilux 2. There is no cam like this. The DL2 is the most practical digitalcam to get close to your subject and the iq is superb with 5mp. Digilux 2 is: Making fotos and not thinking about it, everything is with you and just at the right place.

Regards

Rainer

Photography with Digilux is just - Digiluxing ;)

Tripod use along with some cropping but everything else is straight from the camera. Live stage performance with lots of movement but got lucky with this shot

With a bit of luck, autumn colors can be seen everywhere, even in the parking lot of a dense ugly street :D

I love it.

Which kind of noise reduction software did you use ?

Brgds

Chris

Thanks for your comment. :)

It's a JPEG from the camera and few corrections were applied (shadows, clarity and noise reduction) in Lightroom 4.

As far as noise reduction is concerned, setting the luminance cursor to 27 was enough. The other cursors were left at their default values.

Metering method was spot mode, as indicated in the exifs.

Glad you love it. :)

ps: I am always impressed by what this little jewel camera can deliver.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, the time has come for me to part with my beloved D2. The entire rig, including the Elpro D. I hope its next owner gets as much joy out of it as I have. It's currently listed in the Buy & Sell section of this site: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/market/listing/8453/Leica_Digilux_2_and.html

Here are a couple of shots from over the summer with that "distinctive" look:

Sorry to hear that you are parting with your D2. I'll miss your photos.

But I guess you'll equally enjoy your X1 (or X2, don't remember which one you got).

Don't forget to stop by from time to time ;)

ps: I am jealous. :p Your D2 setup is quite nice (Luigi's, Elpro-D, ... ).
