Fantastic stuff Thorsten.

I wouldn't like to guess which one's are from the D2 - its' a great camera, but in your hands the results are extra special. All well complemented by a very slick musical slideshow. Congrats.

Thorsten - fantastic job on the slideshow. The music and accompanying images transported me overseas for those few minutes.

There are a few shots I could single out as D2 shots (been accustomed to working my own LC1 images for too long), but it is extremely difficult to parse the DMR and D2 shots. Congratulations for the exceptional report and fantastic work.

And John Thawley - fantastic images, as always.

Just finished shooting a festival this weekend with Digilux 2 and R8/DMR (with 35-70/2.8), and you can see the results in this slideshow:

overgaard.dk - SPOT-Festival 2009 in Aarhus, Denmark

Interesting thing is you'll have a hard time seeing what was made with what. But the D2 are ready out of the box, the DNG-files from the DMR needs adjusting to some degree.

ah... my friend. You move the goal post yet again. ;)

Brilliant.

Very nice images, Thorsten. It is good to see what can be done with the Digilux 2 in the right hands! :)

Edit: Thank you Douglasco. The only thing what should be considered at night time is to modify the automatic exposure by approximately -1 stop, sometimes even -2.

Thorsten,

you have a wonderful way of portraying life, so well centered, taken exactly at the right moment, so real that one can feel the atmosphere, it sparks of inquisitiveness, they tell a story and more A STORY WORTH LIVING.

Cheers

Raso

After reading John Thawley wax poetic about this little camera on his forum, it really seemed like a camera that would help me rekindle the fun of walk around photography, as I don't take pictures much outside of work anymore (I had bought a Lumix LX-2, but found I don't enjoy shooting with it, and just ended up with bad snap shots). JT educated me on the camera and "forced" me to borrow his to see how I liked it. I love it! Been having a ball just taking pictures of anything and everything. I really like the color pallet of the images, and the black and white is really nice.

So have since been reading up on the camera as much as I can, JT pointed me to Thorsten's site which is really great and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your photography, very inspiring.

Will now have to look for one to buy, or perhaps I should just move out of the country and take JT's camera with me

Anyhow, I just found this thread and thought I would share a few of the shots I've done so far (still learning the camera) and help keep this thread going

Thorsten, very impressive audio-visual. I like the welcome variety of subject matter, angles and detail. Cameras don't really matter; but they help you produce a wonderful coverage and visual essay.

Morgan,

No doubt the D2 and you were made for each other. That's great results from what's even just a test drive :D

John has so many he wouldn't notice a few disappeared.

But I'm interested to know how you treat the files as you for sure have some great results. I suppose you shoot JPG, but then what. Aperture, Lightroom, Photoshop..?

To the Digilux 2 to Sea World. This was kind of a big step, in-as-much as the photos were important (Marlon's Birthday) and it was the ONLY camera I took. I couldn't be happier. Not just with the photos, but with the simplicity of the equipment and the convenience of one simple camera.

Yes, they were shot as JPG's. I use Photo Mechanic to edit, and Photoshop for post and retouching. (when I shoot RAW I use Adobe Camera Raw)

Most of the photos are pretty much straight out of the camera with exception to the color one of "Fannie" which I desaturated a little and added some contrast and "Mike" which I added some contrast to.

I also did add a little vignetting to a couple of them.

Well, John, having seen your Digilux 2 work and writings, I´m quite a bit surprised you considered this "a big step".....:)

Of course it worked great. Of course there was no need to confuse oneself with taking another camera. You should know, of all people.....:D

And, the pics came out just as expected, that means they´re excellent..... Just as Morgan´s.....

Thanks, Pete. I think my struggle (though fading) is the comfort level with my work gear is so high. And with these personal "family assignments" my subject(s) tend to be a bit impatient with me. LOL - But you're right and as indicated, I'm getting there.

Thanks!

I think they do. Reviewing all my photos over the last nine years since I went digital, including shots with a large variety of cameras ranging from P&S to DSLR, the D2/LC1 shots stand out--better dynamic range, truer colors, and a three-dimensional effect that no other camera captures. Here are a few samples.
