Bill W Posted August 28, 2012 Share #23 Posted August 28, 2012 Thanks Alexander, now I think I need one. Impressive at such high ISO. Nice takes.
brill64 Posted August 29, 2012 Share #24 Posted August 29, 2012 since an mm is exactly the same dimensions as an m9/m9-p, if you asked leica for a silver mm, it would be an easy job to swap out the original black chrome top plate without any engraving (except on the rear) for an m9-p silver chrome top plate, a silver flash hotshoe would be stamped out, as it is for every camera, add a silver baseplate & bingo..! i'd imagine this service costs extra. Agent M10 Posted August 29, 2012 Share #25 Posted August 29, 2012 since an mm is exactly the same dimensions as an m9/m9-p, if you asked leica for a silver mm, it would be an easy job to swap out the original black chrome top plate without any engraving (except on the rear) for an m9-p silver chrome top plate, a silver flash hotshoe would be stamped out, as it is for every camera, add a silver baseplate & bingo..! i'd imagine this service costs extra. I called my dealer about one. He's looking into it. Frankly, I think he was more surprised to hear about a silver MM than I was. I have a silver M9 and found that I like it much better than the black Ms I've had in the past.
chris_tribble Posted August 29, 2012 Share #26 Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks Alexander, now I think I need one. Impressive at such high ISO. Nice takes. I share the sinking feeling as desire rises! The rationale is likely to be: The M9 series is a one of a kind as it's likely to be the last (only) M with a CCD sensor. M10 is almost certainly going to be CMOS. In effect, you will never be able to "upgrade" an M9. The MM offers a significant improvement in image quality over the M9 for high ISO black and white work. Getting one will extend what I can do with the M system without making the leap into a new sensor technology. Decision: Get an MM and have both my current M9s converted to M9P (preferably with black chrome) and just hold on to them until they're prised from my cold dead hands Well - maybe ... bybrett Posted August 29, 2012 Share #29 Posted August 29, 2012 Are these black paint ? No, both black chrome, but the numbers are special: P-001 (prototype) and N44/50 4342444 (not sure what this means yet). Cheers
bybrett Posted August 29, 2012 Share #30 Posted August 29, 2012 Can anyone with a production MM FW 0.017 confirm that the red overexposure clipping now "flashes" on the review screen? On the prototypes it was permanent... am I missing something?
digitalpowershot Posted August 29, 2012 Share #31 Posted August 29, 2012 Is the silver MM a joke? An upgrade or sth from M9P?!? (seriously speeking)

Keith (M) Posted August 29, 2012 Share #36 Posted August 29, 2012 ISO 10,000? Isn't there a law against keeping children in a coal cellar? PS - Superb examples but please stop showing them...
earleygallery Posted August 29, 2012 Share #37 Posted August 29, 2012 Is the silver MM a joke? An upgrade or sth from M9P?!? (seriously speeking) Why would it be a joke? Leica have simply fitted chrome top and base plates as per the M9p and a silver hotshoe, no doubt for a hefty a la carte premium!
chrism Posted August 29, 2012 Share #38 Posted August 29, 2012 Congratulations - first time I've heard of a special order being shipped so early in a production run. My plain old black one will have to do me! Chris
Stealth3kpl Posted August 29, 2012 Share #39 Posted August 29, 2012 PS - Superb examples but please stop showing them... I agree.
