kuddel Posted February 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) .. at Potsdammer Platz in Berlin. The station is part of a new architectural complex. The former wall that devided Berlin had run crossways on a bleak place where now modern buildings were erected and this station was built in the underground. Advertisement Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Hi kuddel, Take a look here subterranean train station. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted February 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2007 Andreas - Terrific angle, depth, DOF, details, contrast and tonal range. Very nice how the lines of first the escalator and then everything else leads you deeply into the scene.
MrEd Posted February 22, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2007 Simple but extremely functional, lots of light. Great looking station. Thanks for sharing. Ed. .
samwells Posted February 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2007 Andreas: Great shot...the perspective of the escalator is almost vertigo-inducing. Thanks for sharing. cheers: Sam
kuddel Posted February 23, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 23, 2007 Thank you very much for all your comments. They are kind and helpful to me. I did forget to mention it and I am still a little bit surprised, I took the picture free hand, no tripod, at 1/8 seconds exposure time. Maybe that is interessting too. hsw Posted February 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2007 Well that's certainly impressive, hand-held at 1/8th! Equally impressive is the deep tonal range. A really nice image. Regards, Henry
kuddel Posted February 28, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted February 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you Henry, D-Lux 3 caught the situatuion very well and I did not much post processing, just converted into black&white in Photoshop using the method with two saturation layers (I forgot the name for that) and some brightness/contrast corrections. ECliffordSmith Posted February 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 28, 2007 Andreas, Nice shot! The DOF is impresive at 2.8 here as well as your steady hands! I like the composition very much.
Artichoke Posted March 1, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 1, 2007 well captured and composed I am glad to learn that the dividing wall area is being put to good purpose it surprises me that there is so little movement in the people here, given the slow shutter speed (congrats on your hand holding technique, btw) I can see the movement in the escalator steps, so I have to assume this reflects cultural differences in train platform behavior ...folks here are much more agitated while waiting for trains:)
kuddel Posted March 2, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted March 2, 2007 Ed, thank you very much for the comment. I am glad you like it. Arthur, you watched the picture very carefully. The station is in a business district and shopping area. I took the picture outside the office hours at the afternoon and the people are not in the rush hour. They are mostly shoppers or tourists, I assume. But when I took it I was was attracted by the contrast of this wide, modern building and the emptiness inside. Regards to you all, Andreas
Wally Posted March 3, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 3, 2007 That is great photography. If I took that picture. I would have it framed and hanging on my wall. Good eye. Regards, Walt
Mattis Posted March 3, 2007 Share #12 Posted March 3, 2007 Just perfect-perspective and range of tones.
