cbretteville Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for the kind comments guys. I like the light like this time of year here. Something is finally happening after we'ver lived in a coal mine for two months. The fact ther there hasn't been any snow has made it even darker. Bill: This was shot at 0824. The sun rose at 0850 and set at 1607 yesterday. It was a nice and sunny all day. The sun reached a height of 10.9 degrees above the horizon. This might seem like a little, but at winter solstice (Dec 23rd last year) it only reached 6.7 degrees above the horizon. That day sunrise was at 0919 and sunset at 1513. Six hour of dusk, the joy of living at 60 degrees north. - Carl

(I have to admit, the thing I like the least about winter is the pervasive wet, gray and darkness).
cbretteville Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted January 24, 2007 But Carl, the summer must be quite special. (I have to admit, the thing I like the least about winter is the pervasive wet, gray and darkness). When it isn't a 'green winter' (+7C and rain in July isn't unheard of.), yes - summer is something else entirely. What passes for night is a few hours of dusk. The birds start singing again at 2am. Some forigners say Norwegians are two peoples: one in the winter and one in the summer. - Carl
