cosmicbreakdown Posted October 25, 2009 Share #382 Posted October 25, 2009 G'day. I own a IIIf with a summarit 5cm f2. Lovely camera My favorite to be honest. It's looks and feel are extraordinary and the tonal range is soft and dreamy We are so used to digital sharpness and the need for perfection that we tend to forget how photographs can touch us, not just as art but as memories and feelings. Something you all might like to know is the solving of holes in the cloth shutter due to wear or burning from the sun (which was my case). I searched on the net and found a few solutions. The first was to buy a new shutter leaf... too expensive. The second was to paint the surface of the holes with liquid electrical tape made by star brite. I live in Australia and could not find the product in the small city in which I live. The last, and cheapest option was to paint the surface of the cloth shutter with screen printing fabric paint. I am a printmaker and own this type of ink. It is cheap, dries very quickly and to my joy worked perfectly. I hope this helps someone in cloth shutter land
UliWer Posted October 26, 2009 Share #383 Posted October 26, 2009 The Leica II started to look a bit sad having to listen to all that talk about a M9. For it's comfort it got a new Hektor - and the M9 has to wait: Welcome, dear visitor! Steve B. Posted December 4, 2009 Share #394 Posted December 4, 2009 Here's my tarted-up IIIf RD -- Doesn't so much take your eye, as maybe poke it? All its siblings that live here dress very conservatively; we blame this on a possibly misspent youth. :D - Steve Busch Upstate South Carolina, U.S. Welcome, dear visitor!
