Last saturday I was in Vienna and went to the Westlich auction, where many beautiful M3's were on sale, all in outstanding conditions. One (700059) went for more than 80000 euros...! I examined some of them and was tempted to make a bid... Simply beautiful cameras.

Recently upgraded my M3 DS, switched out a mid 750 k serial number "shooter quality" body with the old lower shutter speeds (1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100), no frame indicator preview lever, and a badly scraped and flaking top deck for this newer, MUCH less used looking camera.

As a mostly 50mm and 90mm shooter...I can say without hesitation, I love this viewfinder.

The VF in the camera I replaced was bright and contrasty, too, but this new M3's externals are much easier on the eyes.

The newer body came with the M2 Quick Load kit installed, an addition that I was skeptical of at first, but now have grown to like.

My baby came home from a stay at Sherry Krauter in New York today. And seems to be in perfect condition.

Here pictured with my favorite lens. 50mm Summicron "Dual Range"

I didn't give my M3 the love, it actually deserves, since I bought it, which is not really originated in the M3 being at fault, but, because how darn good the other cameras are as well!

Here they are - my first Leica - a chrome M6 classic, which planted the rangefinder bug and my until recently most used camera - a M8.2, Impromptu shot with a Crown Graphic after cleaning and adjusting the 4x5, as it arrived in sorry condition on my doorstep.

I will head out on the weekend and try some street portraits with the beast ;-)
