(I‘ll take a rest) The 'mystery (for some!) car' lives just around the corner from my house. Usually it's kept hidden away in a garage but the owner had been out with it last Saturday just having some fun. Here's a second crop; Welcome, dear visitor! pippy Posted July 17, 2022 Share #18004 Â Posted July 17, 2022 You are thinking along the correct lines, Hektor, but it isn't an Ogle GT. Philip.
wlaidlaw Posted July 17, 2022 Share #18005  Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) Could it be a Deep Sanderson 301 GT? I have a vague connection with Chris Lawrence in that we bought Ted Martin's V8 F1 engine from him, which had been installed at one point in the Deep Sanderson 302 GT but as Chris Lawrence found out, the V8 engine was completely hopeless, so we went back to using Ted Martin's F2 engine based on a Chevy Vega block with a Cosworth head, in our space framed "fraud" Morgan. This engine was later developed by Cosworth themselves as the EAA engine. Wilson Edited July 17, 2022 by wlaidlaw 1
pippy Posted July 17, 2022 Share #18006  Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) Hello Wilson! No; you, too, are thinking along the correct sort of lines but it isn't a Deep Sanderson. The Ogle GT and D-S 301 predate the mystery car but only by a couple of years or so. Just as those two cars have their own very distinctive stylistic cues so does the one in question here. wlaidlaw Posted July 18, 2022 Share #18011  Posted July 18, 2022 I suspect Gelatino's car is one of those ghastly Excalibur cars rather than a real Mercedes. A friend bought one many years ago and was somewhat offended when we all fell about laughing at it. He quickly sold it off to a wedding car company. Wilson

Rona!d Posted July 18, 2022 Share #18013  Posted July 18, 2022 @ Gelatino: Please let us follow the old rule of this thread and not open a new riddle while Philips car isn‘t properly uncovered. Thanks! I know from time to time we post other cars during a technical discussion. Just two hours ago we passed three plastic rental cars, two Excaliburs and one „Bugatti 35“ on VW Beetle chassis. My two little daughters (8) grinned and said „Dad, these are fakes!“ Good girls 😉 2
Gelatino Posted July 18, 2022 Share #18014  Posted July 18, 2022 wlaidlaw is right for the Excalibur. Even if some find it ghastly, it is impressive.  Welcome, dear visitor! From memory it is more like the Warwick / Peerless. Sorry I can't check easily at the moment as I'm currently stuck on a Railway Journey from Hell... Carry on with your thought-trains, chaps, because there are very strong and distinct links with at least one of the four mrntioned previously. I'll post another crop when I havecthe opportunity!
