Advertisement Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here Inspirational Photographers- B&W. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stealth3kpl Posted March 31, 2010 Share #142 Posted March 31, 2010 ken rockwell That was just a little joke - I hope you'll forgive me. I'm new to the forum and I've been very impressed by the talent shown in Gallery. For a long time I've been frustrated with my own efforts which are perhaps technically acceptable holiday photos but ultimately unsatisfying for me. For a long time I've felt something is missing but was lost for a direction to follow. I've always shot with Nikon and traditionally I've always lurked around the Nikon forums but the weight of the equipment set me thinking of a lightweight Leica system for travel, bringing me to the Leica forums. I'm finding inspiration when ever I look at the Gallery. I feel I'm looking at photography from a completely new perspective. I'm thrilled by black and white - something I've always shied from wondering what the point was when there's so much more information in colour. I love the emphasis on composition and texture of Azzo's gallery, the atmosphere and mood of Peter Martin's gallery, the feeling of life in these and so many more of the members' gallery of this forum; life that for a long time I've recognised is missing from my own photography. I'm finding many of you Inspirational. This is an exciting time for me. Pete
Marquinius Posted April 1, 2010 Share #143 Posted April 1, 2010 Pete, You're most welcome! This is what the forum is all about: inspiration. Please don't hesitate to share your photos. It is NOT all about technique

nhabedi Posted April 2, 2010 Share #145 Posted April 2, 2010 Brett Weston, Salgado, A Adams, Sexton, most of the Magnum greats and Elliott Erwitt. And many more. And they've all been mentioned already in this thread...
batmobile Posted April 3, 2010 Share #146 Posted April 3, 2010 And they've all been mentioned already in this thread... Ah, yes. Did you read the OP? The post asks for our favorites and so I posted mine. I am sure many have similar tastes and so it is also interesting to see which ones are particularly popular. nhabedi Posted April 3, 2010 Share #147 Posted April 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ah, yes. Did you read the OP? The post asks for our favorites and so I posted mine. I am sure many have similar tastes and so it is also interesting to see which ones are particularly popular. So you want to turn this into something like a poll? Certainly not my cup of tea... Besides, I couldn't find any previous posting of a user called "batmobile" in this thread, so I don't really see what you're talking about.
batmobile Posted April 3, 2010 Share #148 Posted April 3, 2010 nhabedi, I accidentally posted under a coworker's ID after not logging them out. See OP. It is not me who is changing the thread. Which bit about the OP do you not understand? In the OP Kenneth lists books/photographers he particularly enjoys. It is perhaps not surprising that many people enoy the same photographers or are you insecure and feel it should only be about who is clever enough to know of a photographer that nobody else has posted about? You know, to look deep. Had it been something Jaws had written, with only a couple of posts you'd sure have handed out a warm welcome....
azzo Posted April 3, 2010 Share #149 Posted April 3, 2010 Ease up a little nhabedi, .... .. it's no big deal rementioning photographers' names. .. Did anyone mention HCB by any chance? ..
nhabedi Posted April 3, 2010 Share #150 Posted April 3, 2010 Which bit about the OP do you not understand? or are you insecure and feel it should only be about who is clever enough to know of a photographer that nobody else has posted about? You know, to look deep. Why do you think personal attacks are necessary?

batmobile Posted April 6, 2010 Share #156 Posted April 6, 2010 I actually bought Don McCullin's In England after visiting the exhibition 'This is War.' I had intended to buy the exhibition book but far preferred the former book. It is big and beautifully printed with wonderful images, many of which I had not seen before. Currently enjoying two books, Don McCullin "In England" and Ara Güler's "Istanbul". I highly recommend the latter. Wonderful B&W images of his home town. Please shoot me if these have been mentioned before

antistatic Posted April 8, 2010 Share #159 Posted April 8, 2010 Ara Güler's ................ BANG ! .. . . . . . . . Ivan, I consider myself shot. It is a beautiful book though so I feel it was worth the pain of being shot for mentioning it again. I love the grain in his prints as it really adds to the urban mood of his photos.
