Maybe someone can convert this to a sticky so it doesn't get lost.

Not a problem, Alun.

I'll give this thread some more time and convert the added names to the "master list" I made earlier. Still got it in excel, so no hassle.

Here's the updated list. A downloadable Excel sheet can be found here.

For further entries in this thread, PLEASE put each new name on a new line and NOT after each other. It's a bore to copy paste delete all the commas

Last but not least: I'll update the Excel sheet when necessary. No worries. Oh, and Kenneth, thanks for starting all this!

Certainly this is becoming quite a list. I must say that I have not heard of alot of them but that says nothing other than showing how limited my knowledge of the subject is. I am grateful for the contributions here thank you

Salgado, Larry Towell, Bruce Gilden, Elliot Erwitt, James Nachtwey, Helmut Newton

Great topic by the way..

I just picked up a couple of issues of Petersen's Masters of Contemporary Photography, one on Elliott Erwitt, the other on Paul Fusco & Will McBride. It was great to become acquainted with their work. Also picked up a used copy of one of Newton's photography books. Great stuff.

So much to learn, so little time.

Yeah, and I especially like Erwitts style. He's more of a street shooter. He documented things that happened on his vacations and stuff. (Salgado's work is straight photojournalism)

I am reading the late Barry Thornton- Edge of Darkness at present. A wonderful book with some astonishing photographs. His book- Elements is also worth searching out
