bought last week:) but has been in the store since Aug as a demo.

 

I have to assume that the poster that speculated that Leica issues non-sequential s/n's is correct, since yours was in the store since last August, but mine which is a used M9 sold in Milan according to the sales slip on 12-16-2013. Yours is sequentially older than mine, but according to your history, it is newer. I wrote an e-mail to Leica asking for the manufacturing date. I wonder if I'll get an answer.

Yes, but only if the posters can answer the original question that was asked; i.e., can one tell the date of manufacture by the s/n/?
