LUF Admin Posted May 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, After we released our first L-Camera TV with our video shoot in Solms we counted 25,000 viewers and many websites linked to it. L-Camera TV #1 - Does Leica still make MP and M7? We received plaudit and constructive criticism - so L-Camera TV is going to be continued. My question: How did you like the first video and what are your ideas for the next shows of L-Camera TV? Regards Andreas

johnastovall Posted May 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 13, 2009 I like it and how about a story on the manufacture of the new 1.4's or maybe the S2.
Doc Henry Posted May 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 13, 2009 Hi Andreas, It is an excellent initiative. As old leicaiste man as me (40 years of use with cameras and lens Leica only),all which can inform us like L Camera TV will be useful for us to know about the current events of Solms. I shall wish to have an outline for example of the After-Sales Service (ASS) , how it works and which are the technicians or the engineers who work on the workshop with the instruments of control....or the presentation of M9 or R10 ? I think that we shall have all one day to need this service ASS per example for our M8, R8 or our M or R lens, for a visit of maintenance or repair. Thank you very much for this initiative and for your work in LUF. Best regards Henry Note: I have posted this...in the section "Film forum" : http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/film-forum/85264-m7-mp-continues-produced-2009-a.html
sdai Posted May 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm probably asking too much, Andreas. But you could do some interviews with some Leica people such as Daniels, Schulz, Harberts or Peter Karbe and let them talk on any subjects they'd feel comfortable to discuss about. You could grab many interesting questions from the forum threads. They don't have the pressure to face forum members directly because what to talk about is solely between you and them. I was able to talk to some Nikon, Canon engineers directly at trade shows, their service centers and have greatly benefited from their knowledge. Thanks a lot. JBA Posted May 14, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 14, 2009 This was a very good first effort, and I particularly appreciated that you chose a topic that was the subject of such intense speculation on the forum, with people predicting the demise of the film M at any moment. As a devoted user of film Ms, this was very reassuring. I also appreciated the subtitles in good, natural English. For the next video, perhaps you could address another topic of much speculation and rumor, such as any plans for the R10 and backward compatibility with existing R lenses (to the extent Leica personnel are at liberty to discuss this). Keep up the good work!
Theodor Heinrichsohn Posted May 14, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 14, 2009 Good first effort. Many additional subjects have been mentioned by posters and I would support their suggestions. Lens design + manufacturing and customer service interest me most. An interview with Peter Karbe would be wonderful! Teddy
PeterMartin Posted May 14, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good first effort. An interview with Peter Karbe would be wonderful! Teddy Great video and very interesting to see the factory. Future ideas: Is is possible for other users to upload their own videos?...showing them with their own gear?, shooting techniques and tricks they've learned over the years? Does this become too much of a logistical nightmare? Would there be any interest in showing any of the Leica Galleries? Frankfurt, New York, Salzburg, Solms, Istanbul, Tokyo and Vienna? ______________________________ http://www.petermartinphotographer.com
LUF Admin Posted May 14, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted May 14, 2009 Some great ideas - especially for the interviews. Regarding Peter's suggestion to upload your stuff: I have to think about it... One way to do it: - You upload your videos to Vimeo and/or Youtube and send me a link - If it fits in, I include it in our Vimeo- and Youtube channel - All videos of this channel can be included here on the forum page. Hmm. We'll see. If you have interesting stuff, let me take a look... Best regards from Bonn Andreas
scott kirkpatrick Posted May 14, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 14, 2009 I enjoyed it very much. I think having some interviews is a good idea, and I would like to see more of the inside of the Solmswerk, such as how lenses are calibrated, some discussion with the folks who create and test the firmware, ... scott

archi4 Posted May 14, 2009 Share #12 Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks for this. Lens production (any lens as far as I am concerned) and M8 would be nice. How about an interview with technician(s) who have tackled M8 problems sent in and their views on the quality control.

rods Posted May 14, 2009 Share #19 Posted May 14, 2009 Really good to see inside the factory and particularly to see the level of crafts(wo)manship. Lens production, calibration of lens and camera, M8 would all be great. Be good to release a video of R10 production on the day it is announced! Thanks, Rod
fotografr Posted May 14, 2009 Share #20 Posted May 14, 2009 I found it worthwhile and informative. For the next topic, I would like to see workers assembling the M9. For the record, I have zero interest in Leica twitting or facebook--or anybody else's for that matter.
