kdemas Posted December 13, 2011 Share #61 Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) With the sale of my M7 the M5 is my primary film shooter right now. It's been rock solid... I really enjoy using it. Terrific body if you like shooting a 50mm. It's currently wearing a nice S-Mount Millemium Nikkor with Amadeo adapter. Here it was at breakfast with me late last year. Edited December 13, 2011 by kdemas

NB23 Posted December 17, 2011 Share #65 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) Great advice! The only slight problem with Leica cameras is that you always end up regretting, no matter what you do. But at the same time, how can I logically live and be happy with 15 Leica bodies in my home? Still, I want one M5. No, sorry: I need one M5! You must follow your heart. I've now sold my MP and M6 to leave me with my 2 M2s. Bliss.Pete Edited December 17, 2011 by NB23
pop Posted December 17, 2011 Share #66 Posted December 17, 2011 .. at the same time, how can I logically live and be happy with 15 Leica bodies in my home? Life is tough. But then, most of us have some bodies in the basement.
superwill58 Posted January 15, 2012 Share #67 Posted January 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) hello everyone, i have just bought a Leica M5 from ebay, it is my first Leica camera in my life, still waiting for shipment, can't wait to receive it. it is so good to have a group of ppl here that i can ask for information abt M5 does anyone knows if below lens can be use on M5? 1. summaron 35/f3.5 (M3 version) 2. elmar 50/f2.8 (collapse) 3. Zeiss biogon ZM 35/f2 many thanks, william
dsj Posted January 15, 2012 Share #68 Posted January 15, 2012 I'd be very careful with the elmar 50 because it can if collapsed, crash the lightmeter arm. you should be good with the other ones I think. But I am by no means an expert on this and might be mistaken.
iphoenix Posted January 15, 2012 Share #69 Posted January 15, 2012 does anyone knows if below lens can be use on M5? 1. summaron 35/f3.5 (M3 version) 2. elmar 50/f2.8 (collapse) 3. Zeiss biogon ZM 35/f2 According to the 1975 Leitz general catalogue, collapsible 50mm Elmars, Summicron, Summitar and Summar lenses; plus collapsible 90mm Elmar, must be limited in their collapsibility by fitting a 9.5mm wide strip of tape around the barrel to stop the collapsed lens fouling the meter arm. Also, the Summaron 3.5/35mm with detachable viewfinder must have the bayonet and finder machined to stop them fouling the body's cover plate. I'm sure some of the other members of this forum could provide more specific details of the work involved if required. Hope this helps. akiralx Posted January 16, 2012 Share #70 Posted January 16, 2012 does anyone knows if below lens can be use on M5? 1. summaron 35/f3.5 (M3 version) 2. elmar 50/f2.8 (collapse) 3. Zeiss biogon ZM 35/f2 I am nervous even OWNING my 50mm Elmar at the same time as my M5... Excellent though it is I think it is better not to use it even uncollapsed. Pick up a Zeiss 50mm Planar perhaps? The 35mm Biogon is of course fine to use.
