earleygallery Posted March 31, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, I like the size of my Panasonic FX30 but I also love the image quality of the 5cm 3.5 Elmar, so wondered if there was any way I could fit one to the FX30. After much tinkering about, and the loss of the original Leica zoom (I had to break it to remove it), I've managed to fix the Elmar. I couldn't fit an LTM mount so the lens has been glued to the body to ensure a good fit and light tightness of course, and no I cannot fully retract it (buy hey that goes for the M8 too). It still makes a neat pocketable set, and I can now use filters which I couldn't do on the standard zoom lens. Manual focus is pretty easy with live view on the LCD, and the auto exposure still seems to work in all modes apart from flash (set the aperture accordingly) so all in all a worthwhile 'upgrade'. Neil Macmillan Posted April 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2008 Shame on you for breaking that FX30 zoom! I would have loved it to put on a IIIg.

luigi bertolotti Posted April 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2008 Incredible transplant... but 5 cm is a lot long for a Lumix... I'd suggest to continue this way with: - Transplant of one of the supercompact 2,8 cm (Hektor or Summaron): really a pocketable combo. - Transplant of a Elmar or Hektor 135... a strong tele and a fine "tube-camera"... stunsworth Posted April 1, 2008 Share #13 Posted April 1, 2008 Amazing what can be done with Photoshop! Much easier to just rest the lens on the camera body - sometimes old technology works the best.
