Anyone's willing to sell his M2 serviced? Or someone knows a good place to look for it? Thanks in advance

Cesc,

I would buy this one (side move to serviced M4) kind of M2 with bonusses 😉

https://www.leica-camera-france.fr/occasion/leica-m4

Or M2 to be serviced, if you want to send it to Suffren, and wait a bit

https://www.leica-camera-france.fr/occasion/leica-m2-0

Second hand M2 (or other M ) prices are crazy

Don't  bother changing your nice (new) MP for another M.

You will (I'm sure) miss it, if done.

Those older M are OLD and some are more or less worse than new M.

Can you identify the "missings" something MP/M2 ?

I wonder what is missing on your new MP

Smoothness ?

Take more photos with your MP, then be(come) happy.

I actually just sold my BP MP after getting the M3, because I never felt like taking it out over the M3. The M2 is also more enjoyable than the MP for sure, at least for me. And while these cameras are really old, they seem to function as new after a good CLA without ever giving me any issues. The MP / MA are great too, but somehow they don’t do it for me as much as the old cameras. Why, I don’t know…but yes, the MP is a great camera and it can be your only camera for the rest of your life.

I came for M2 camera pictures but I agree. Comparing my M2 with many mods next to an M-A, I left feeling there was no reason to upgrade other than the security of not worrying about finder separation. My M2 was smoother, my finder was as bright and contrasty with the multi-coated windows. I like the M-A but without just adding it, I just didn't feel it was an actual upgrade.

Dear FilmSpiel,

IMHO "brassing" is a passing fad similar to wearing jeans with holes in them.  Please don't "brass" such a rare camera.

It is impossible to beat originality.

May I suggest using blind cord as a camera strap. The original eyelets are soft and wear.

Beautiful camera

After buying this M2 + 35/2.8 Summaron, I have now decided to sell my M6 + 35 cron v2.

This combo here is just beautiful, smooth, quiet and consistent.

The perfect Leica M 35mm lens combination. IMO the best in many respects.

Looks gorgeous.

I bought an M4 BP + 50 Summilux, then an M6 [Classic] + 35 Summicron ASPH v2. But my desire to get IMO the purist Leica M was always going to be a M3 + 50 Rigid or an M2 + 35

I ended up with a late 61 M2 a little beaten [well looks anyway] + a 35 Summicron v3 [I am actively seeking an 35 8 Element :)]

You think so?

I have read many good things about the 2.8 Summaron - also in comparison to the 8-elements. But also some critical things.
But since I already liked the external look of the lens attached to the body so much, I wanted to try it out.
The 8-elements is too expensive for me and I don't really need the extra aperture.

By the way, the dealer where I bought the Summaron told me that there are Summarons with different coatings. Once a little warmer and once a little cooler - for me it looks like the cooler one (blue/magenta colored coating).

He also told me that there are a few specimens that are somewhat lighter than the majority (I have a light one, he says). Where this comes from, he did not know. Whether Leica may have tried a different construction method internally or something similar.

What is true in the end - I have no idea but find it interesting to share.

In any case, I'm glad to hear you say it's a great combo - I'm really looking forward to trying it out. The Tri-X is already loaded.

Yes, the purist thought has been exactly the point.
Coming from digital (Sony E), I first wanted a Leica with lightmeter.
At some point, I bought a Hasselblad 500C (in excellent original condition and not tinkered with). Since I learned to shoot with it with Sunny16, the dots in the M6-viewfinder bothered me.

So I have only the M2 & the 500C and am maximally reduced on the road. A great thought that gives me a lot of pleasure!
