Indeed, but I can only see 3 fossils in the image, the M2 is not IMHO. In fact it lives on and on as one of the ultimate cameras of all time - e.g. via the MP which is basically a clone of the M2. (No offence intended to other M number owners).

If I had known that I would have snaked that out from under you when I held it in my hands last Saturday to test the Summicron 50mm. :p

Incredible condition for a camera of that generation. That's not just a camera, that's a trophy.

Did anyone get their M2 painted black? Does anyone have an idea how much that would cost? My idea would be to get a "poor man's" black paint MP this way but if it's like $1000 or more then it wouldn't make that much economical sense. It's such a shame black paint versions are so rare and expensive. Even more because they were not limited when the M2 was new.

the problem with a black paint M2 is that you have to get black painted lenses as well, which can get expensive

Top view of my 1966 M2 (stripped of its original chrome, and repainted by Kanto, Japan). To me, it's a meter-less black paint MP, but with a less cluttered finder, and a slightly more classic look.

Hello to all. Just posting to let all of you know that I will soon be a proud owner of a 1965 Leica M2 with a Summaron f/3,5 lens.

This will be my first Leica film camera since I have been a happy owner of a Digilux 1 for a number of years.

Now there is a change for you.

Should be getting my baby by the 11th and will surely post pictures of her here.

Thanks again for creating this wonderful site.

Best regards

Chris
