SiMPLiFY Posted September 6, 2012 Share #341 Posted September 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Kathleeen, many congratulations. It seems you have also achieved Autarkeia, or self-sufficiency, with this set. What need for more? That's a good word! Thanks for sharing it. It accurately describes how I feel about my Leica and my life! Autarkeia: a mind contented with its lot, contentment

LeicaFanboy Posted September 8, 2012 Share #343 Posted September 8, 2012 Is it better to have Leica M6 or M2 with Voigtlander light meter?
antistatic Posted September 8, 2012 Share #344 Posted September 8, 2012 Another option is an M2 and a separate light meter like the Sekonic L-308s. It is a great way to learn about light and exposure.

k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 8, 2012 Share #346 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Is it better to have Leica M6 or M2 with Voigtlander light meter? Most likely unpopular within THIS wonderful thread: would definetely opt for the M6, esp. in case your are completely new to r/f-photography. There are too many decisions to make before you achieve a decently exposed photograph with a seperate meter as a newcomer to the LEICA. But welcome to the LEICAforum, LEICAfanboy, whatever you decide, enjoy - and let the LEICApeople round here know ... I've been using my rangefinder (Canonet QL17) this past month. And also using that camera pretty much everyday on the streets. Thank you for you recommendation btw

SiMPLiFY Posted September 8, 2012 Share #349 Posted September 8, 2012 Does the Canon have a built in meter? The thing I love about the M2 is that it really forces me to think. It is really easy to make mistakes with this camera but I know that it is not the cameras fault. I see it as a challenge. Besides, I think it's the most beautiful camera in the world. I'm still learning to use it and for me that is half the fun. Good luck with your decision.

SiMPLiFY Posted September 8, 2012 Share #351 Posted September 8, 2012 You may honestly be happier with an M6 then. It's more like what you're already used to. I used my metered cameras mostly in Aperture Priority Mode and my M2 photos so far really SUCK! I have a lot to learn and it's hard but I am actually enjoying the challenge.
