I had a chance to test the R6 and I find the shutter to be too loud. I am finding it difficult to like it actually. I guess the only keeper from this set is the 28-90.

My suspicion is that you are finding a combination of the shutter and the mirror slap to be possibly louder than you like. You can not compare that sound to an M film camera. There are a lot of movements going on here. I would say that the camera is probably no louder than any average and quite likely quieter than the average film based SLR camera.

I'm impressed you have the 28-90. Even so, the 21-35 is not one to sneeze at!

I just came back from a road trip and either one of those could have came in very handy. I only have the APO-Summicron-R 1:2/90mm ASPH.

Couldn't agree more. Most people consider that the 21-35 is (apart of course from maximum aperture) as good as, or even better in some cases, than the primes in that range.

After hanging in the background for a bit I finally decided to make an account and share my daily shooter: an R8 that has never let me down!

My 6.2 with an R-Grip. It compliments the thumb grip on the film door. :)

Thank God for that! The Leicaflex is an antiquated, slow, mechanical throwback of a beast, that uses cds cells suffering from memory problems when exposed to a bright light source. The R3 also used 3 cds cells, however subsequent models were equipped with silicon cells. The R8/9 were 100% Leica far beyond anything the Leicaflex could aspire to, though some people swear by the Leicaflex viewfinder. Clearly, I am not one of them.

All true and if I could use the DMR on the SL I'd sell my R8 bodies. The viewfinder is very important to me and never use the extra features of R8/R9.

Personally... I like all of the R range. There were no duds and they're all still very usable today.

And I can't think of a dud lens either.

Just stuff some film in there and go for it. ;)

(Tape over the Leica scripts if you're shy :D)
