setuporg Posted Monday at 04:29 AM Share #1 Posted Monday at 04:29 AM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I first got a Q2 at launch and used it for travel, where narrow Italian streets and the inside of cathedrals warrant a wide angle. It is great for kids' parties but not so much fr portraits and general use. But the Q343 reignited my Q use. So I confirmed the main use case vs M: One-handed operation! It is very easy to walk around with a coffee mug or cup in your hand. You can also hold a beer at a party. You can also walk the dog. If you do it with M, the dog pulls a hand and it's hard to focus. Here, the shot is quick, and the dog will not jerk the camera! Overall, any one-handed scenario warramts a Q. When you have both hands free, an M will do better. P.S. A good pairings for Q3 43 include Barolo and Rye Old Fashioned. Absinthe was recommended, but I have not tried that yet. But just to dash your theory re one handed M shooting, especially when walking the dog, I feel compelled to submit the following pic shot on an M7 whilst wresting a German Shepherd no less, on the other end of my rope. 😉 Welcome, dear visitor! LocalHero1953 Posted Monday at 07:17 AM Share #3 Posted Monday at 07:17 AM There's an advertising campaign at the moment for the Hasselblad 907x that shows it being used for one handed shooting. I've never tried it, and it looks tempting, but not tempting enough at that cost or the cost of their lenses.

Why do we need to pay 7 times more? 1

The cost of a Q3 might be too far for most of us but I do see the added value in a camera that feels good in the hand and inspires. 1

SrMi Posted Monday at 03:04 PM Share #7 Posted Monday at 03:04 PM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Stephen Shore was for a while shooting with an X1D while walking his two little dogs. However, it hurts imagining me holding a cup of coffee and taking pictures simultaneously 😆. Edited Monday at 03:25 PM by SrMi 1

Ergonomics and Qs do not lock up as often as an iPhone camera, and photography is not interrupted by all kinds of notifications.

Why do we need to pay 7 times more? The iPhone is actually trickier -- you need to unlock it and click camera. I have a hot button assigned to Halide Camera, the best RAW camera app on the iPhone, and it still takes time. You also have to look at the screen. The Q you just bring up to your eye and click! You need latest iPhone. I have a 16 pro max. Just click the camera button and done. No need to unlock the phone or tap the screen, just one real button click

I use an iPhone and still spend 70 times more (a couple of M digitals, a M film, a Q3/43, a SL3-S, plus bunch of M lenses and SL lenses), and I don’t drink beer or don’t even have a dog, I drink max one cup of coffee a day. Am I crazy? Edited Monday at 06:50 PM by Elliot Harper
