Robert Blanko Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Share #1 Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) Would you sell your M10R black paint (the limited edition, now called glossy black paint for the M11) for an M11-P safari? Advertisement Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Hi Robert Blanko, Take a look here Would you sell your M10R-BP for an M11-P safari?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
graphlex Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM Share #2 Posted Wednesday at 10:24 PM Not me. But then I’m trading my perfect, well-behaved M10-D for an M11. 🤔
jakontil Posted Wednesday at 11:31 PM Share #3 Posted Wednesday at 11:31 PM Also, my friend sold his m10r bp for m11 gbp.. not sure he would trade in for a safari, and may be his preference is just in black paint, who knows?
graphlex Posted Thursday at 12:24 AM Share #4 Posted Thursday at 12:24 AM I chose the glossy, but not because I prefer it—just in the hope it might retain some value longer.

Al Brown Posted Thursday at 04:57 AM Share #6 Posted Thursday at 04:57 AM As someone who has both a BP and a Safari - if your heart tells you so you do not have to seek validation in forums, just do it. Wait for one week with this idea and if it passes, it was not meant to be. But if it persists just go for it and live happily ever after. (Until a new irresistible M comes along). 3
satijntje Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM Share #7 Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) I exchanged my M10-r black paint with a brand new M11 glossy black paint. The IQ that comes out of the M11 sensor is a again a step forward, the battery capacity is endless, no more stupid bottom plate, charging in the car with USB-c and so on ……. Well done Leica (after finally solving the story with the freezes) Difficult to understand that the M10-R BP was only 2000 units as on every Leica event, I always saw many M10 BP, sometimes even more than a normal M10 or M10r. I soon will update my limited to 600pcs M10 Mono (Leica Wetzlar version) with a second hand M11M and all is perfect! A green camera, not for me 🙂
Kiwimac Posted Thursday at 05:45 AM Share #8 Posted Thursday at 05:45 AM I think I wouldn’t. I did like the colour from the 10-R probably the most from all the digitally Ms. I also love black paint on brass.

This is not guaranteed, there are many cases here of regret having sold Leica stuff, more so with lenses than with bodies, but still.

T25UFO Posted Thursday at 07:46 AM Share #14 Posted Thursday at 07:46 AM This is really two questions: 1) do you prefer the M10R over the M11? Lots of people still see the”10” as the last true M. 2) do you prefer one finish over the other? BP will hold its value better and the M10R BP is the only digital M now selling for more than its original list price.
overexposed Posted Thursday at 08:04 AM Share #15 Posted Thursday at 08:04 AM Well this is a difficult ques....NO
davidhellmann Posted Thursday at 12:02 PM Share #16 Posted Thursday at 12:02 PM The guy here says the M11-P Safari is maybe also limited. If that helps
Eoin Posted Thursday at 12:29 PM Share #17 Posted Thursday at 12:29 PM Never fancied a M10-R BP at the price they fetch 2nd hand and notwithstanding OCD which would get the better of me and require some Black Paint lenses to "complete the look" at equally inflated prices. Equally, the Safari M11 in my world would require purchases of chrome lenses, again, my OCD kicking in. So I resign myself (without too much difficulty) to standard finish chrome or black chrome bodies and serial production lenses, all beautifully engineered, equally capable, readily available 2nd hand with huge savings over new or special editions. That's just me, but my advice fwiw, if you have the means, do whatever makes you happy. 2

charlesphoto99 Posted Thursday at 01:47 PM Share #19 Posted Thursday at 01:47 PM IMO the Safari with black lenses looks like an ugly pastiche of styles. So you'd better have silver lenses if trading. I wouldn't - my M10-R BP is for life.

Well, he has already an M11-D that he will keep, so he is aware of the technical differences. Image quality is in his opinion not a big difference. But he is also to some extent a tech guy - he likes the GPS-tagging and time synchronization. Having only one battery system would be a plus too. He bought the M10R-BP back then as it was a deal where you could not resist and as the BP (or in these days: GBP) is aesthetically nice. But the Safari also attracts him a lot, basically on par with the M10R-BP. Thus, so far I would see a slight edge in favor of the M11P Safari and recommend him to sell the M10R-BP and to buy the M11-P safari. But on the other hand... tough decision. 🤔😁
