smkoush Posted April 29 Share #4 Posted April 29 I was a 35 only, then 50 only, then 28 only, and now back to 35 with the occasional use of a 21 and a 90.
evikne Posted April 29 Share #5 Posted April 29 Hm, haven’t I seen this topic somewhere before? 🤔🤪 But for me it's 50/50. Every time I put on my 35mm lens, it's my favorite length. But if I put on the 50mm, that's my favorite.

PhotoCruiser Posted April 29 Share #7 Posted April 29 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes exactly, and 35mm can become 50mm (or viceversa) when walking towards/from the scene. Obviously if possible. However, i mostly photograph either 28mm or 14mm Chris Edited April 29 by PhotoCruiser
3D-Kraft.com Posted April 29 Share #8 Posted April 29 Neither/nor - mostly 28 or 75mm
JoshuaR Posted April 29 Share #9 Posted April 29 I used to be all 35. But nowadays I'm mostly 28 + 50. If I leave the house with just one lens, it's a 28mm.

We will all have our own views on this matter, as might be expected, but for me the question is a bit like asking whether I'm a T-shirt or Jersey Guy. Philip. TomB_tx Posted April 29 Share #14 Posted April 29 On digital primarily 35, on film 50. I take along only the camera and mounted lens (decide before I leave), then take on the challenge of finding interesting shots for the lens I have with me.

tom0511 Posted April 29 Share #16 Posted April 29 if I had to decide for one lens only: 35 (more flexible) but in general I use 50 more often than 35.
lct Posted April 29 Share #17 Posted April 29 Always been 50 but with the M11, i tend to use 35 more and more with perspective control on. LV mode needed though. Ready for the M11-V 😱

OR120 Posted April 29 Share #19 Posted April 29 Between 35 and 50 - I'm probably more of a 50 guy. Using two lenses I'm more of a 21 and 50 guy (and change that 50 to a 75 or 80 now and then) And no matter what the lens choice - nine times out of ten - it's a Summilux. Back to the original question - I do really love the 50 (but mine is an R)

I agree, but there are focal lengths at which a photographer “sees” his scene better or worse – probably s a matter of habit and taste. I have found that I tend to perceive scenes that interest me better in a 50mm frame. When I use a 35mm lens, I prefer to get closer to my subject, and when I use a 90mm lens, I tend to move further away.
