I had a M10-D and sold it for a M11-D after some weeks of test with the 11.  If we not consider the essential differences between a M10 and a M11, the M11-D brings more support via the smartphone App.

The D cameras need to have an orgy and produce the following

M-D & M11-D design with the ISO on the back, M-D one in silver looks nicer than M11-D

M10-D & M11-D thickness

M-D simplicity with no wifi/live view and app.

M10-D thumb rest

M-D finish. Black paint on brass.

For me, the design of the M11-D ISO dial and top-mounted on/off switch is enough to get it over the M10-D, with its out-of-place wi-fi icon.  And then there are the extra benefits as listed above.  The M11-D design feels unified in all regards, the M10-D is a bit of a hodgepodge.

You know the Pontiac Aztec was designed based on all the highest rated features consumers identified they wanted in the perfect automobile.  The result was a Frankenstein that looked like Frankenstein.

I had the M10-D and used it as my primary camera until the M11 came out. I really wanted a "D" series with the M11 features (USB C Charging, no bottom plate,  no fake advance lever). I reluctantly sold the M10-D and used the M11 while waiting for the M11-D. I definitely prefer it over the M10-D.

I had the M10-D from release day, ( when was that? ), loved it......but my one proved to be a "lemon", many problems many trips home to Wetzlar, at least two motherboard replacements and replacement of rear ASA / exp' compensation / on-off-wifi dial which I hated anyway....Traded it with Leica for the M11-D and haven't looked back with any regrets at all, except perhaps for the "missing" faux lever/thumb support, but even that I've more or less recovered from.

With the M11-D I like / prefer the black paint finish and the lesser weight. I thought at first it was gimmicky but soon enough I found that I really do like the 3 resolutions option keeping mine pretty much all the time at 18mps as I like that resolution's look. I thought the extra shutter dances would annoy me, but they don't. I do appreciate the M11 base and battery and the USB charging, I don't like the extra reliance on Foto's App for set-up, ( I no longer use an iPhone and have used a "dumb" Punkt 'phone now for 4-5 years so for Foto's use I have to use an iPad Mini ), but once set-up one can, and if you are a D owner you should, ignore Foto's because to my mind it runs counter to the "D" philosophy. If you really need to review your snaps in camera, buy a LCD screened M11-P / M11-M instead.

M11-D because of the much better sensor plus plus plus.

Same discussion as M10 or M11. The M11 is the improved version of the M10 if you like. It's not only the sensor but lots of different improvements. Why would Leica launch an M11 if it were not superior.

I have the M11-D and love it. I have two Leica film cameras so know the feel of the film lever. I have a Thumbie on my M11-D and love that combination.

in terms of 'perfect', the m10d was nearly perfetto - but the m11d is simply perfettissimo, in numerous details, be that mechanics, ergonomics, optics, electronics, pictures.  i doubt i will ever find a better camera for my taste in the future, it's exactlly what i need, for my style doing photography, that's documenting things.  i carry it around every single day & hour, anytime everywhere.  the FOTOS app i used exactly once in 6 months, that very first day i picked it up in the store.  my own mobile phone doesn't even support FOTOS anymore.

only caveat : missing thumb rest...

And I think that is something I keep reminding myself of, every M can be as simple as you choose it to be, besides when you set it up, you don’t really have to go back into the menu again if you don’t wish to. It’s nice to hear you have found your perfect camera.  📸
