RMF Posted February 21 Share #23 Posted February 21 Oddly, I haven't seen the 'v2.2.1 update available' option appear within Fotos for my M11 or M11D; both bodies are currently on FW 2.20, and both connect to Fotos v5.11 successfully. I am using the Apple version of the Fotos so perhaps they have't released it to the iPhone yet? (hard to believe if that's the case). Software is fully up to date: iPhone is on v18.3.1, Leica Fotos on v5.11 and went through some minor troubleshooting: rebooted phone, restated app, disconnected and then reconnected camera within Fotos, etc.. Everything works as expected but just don't get the 'update available' notification option within Fotos.

Tseg Posted February 21 Share #25 Posted February 21 Don't be me. I downloaded the file from the email onto my computer. I then tethered my M11-D to my computer, and while the Photos app sees the camera, the Finder app does not, so was not sure how to put the file on the camera from the computer.... So I I thought I would open the Fotos app on my phone and download that way... as I started up the firmware transmission I saw I still had the USB plugged into my camera from my computer... the blinking red light on the bottom of the camera went on for minutes, then powered down. I unplugged everything and, luckily, my camera turned on. I turned on the Fotos app and it could not connect to the camera... I tried multiple times. I finally removed the M11-D from the Fotos app and re-installed. Now the app saw my M11-D and the new firmware was already installed. Beyond that, uneventful. Just a quick update to my post an hour ago, me being an overly anxious software tech engineer 😀, I just couldn't wait for Fotos (Apple app version) to provide me the update option for my M11 and M11-D so I just went the old fashion route and installed the FW updates via SD. Worked perfectly on both the M11 and M11-D and it went as smooth as can be (the M11-D install process went surprising quickly at slightly over 3 minutes). I also like that my M11-D with the new v2.2.1 defaults now to a 5gHZ connection as well. Fotos now detects that both cameras have v2.2.1 installed. Good job Leica devs! . elgenper Posted February 22 Share #28 Posted February 22 (edited) Just updated my M11P "the good old way", i e by downloading the instructions and the FW file from Leica, copying the FW file to a freshly formatted SD card, and rigorously follow the instructions. Resetting the camera, then (using some bad language) trying to recall the memory of my old settings. Now everything seems to work smoothly. Honestly, after being informed about the potentially disastrous results of having the update process interrupted, nothing could persuade me to allow the Fotos app to do it over a wireless connection! After all, it is easy to do it the "old way"; done it many times, for many cameras, never any trouble. Edited February 22 by elgenper
PhotoCruiser Posted February 22 Share #29 Posted February 22 I have to update many of my different devices and i always use the SD Card to do that. First reason is to not have a communication error what may lead to bricking the device second reason is that the Garmin Marine devices Updates are actually 9.7 GB and that takes forever to download it over G4 to the phone and then send it by WiFi to the device. Fortunately the Leica Updates are small, so this is not a real problem. Chris
Malabito Posted February 23 Share #30 Posted February 23 Updated via the app, as I did for the previous one. All went smoothy.

stephenb1115 Posted February 23 Share #32 Posted February 23 Having problems here. All my previous updates have went smoothly with the FOTOS app. Got the leica email that the new update was available and went to my Fotos app but nothing there. I went to the Leica download site and downloaded the update on a newly formatted SD card but wen I went to the camera info tab Firmware Update wasnt available. Tried different reformatted SD cards, reset my camera, nothing. All IOS updates are made to my phone. I thought maybe I missed a Leica update and the old firmware wasnt allowing me to update. I'm running 2.1.3 now. Any help? Thanks in advance.

M11 for me Posted February 23 Share #34 Posted February 23 (edited) vor 5 Minuten schrieb MinRas: no big deal put firmware file in to SD card and it works Thats what he did. @stephenb1115 You can try the following: 1) Format your SD card in the camera 2) Download the firmware again. Make sure to download the version for your camera. 3) Drag and drop that firmware onto the SD card 4) Insert SD card into camera and then try again Edited February 23 by M11 for me

pechelman Posted February 23 Share #38 Posted February 23 (edited) Any trick to make the app realize there's a firmware update? Running the current versions of everything and have 2.2.0 installed on an m11p. I've tried deleting the camera and reinstalling the app. Edited February 23 by pechelman

Running the current versions of everything and have 2.2.0 installed on an m11p. I've tried deleting the camera and reinstalling the app. This might not work some times. Maybe after a few days you might get the indication of new firmware. But try the following now anyway: Connect the camera to Fotos and then in the WLAN settings of the phone go to M11 WLAN and say "do not connect to this network" (iPhone) Then switch off camera. Delete the Bluetooth entries of the camera in the BT settings. Disconnect the camera from Leica Fotos Delete the Leica Fotos app. Restart the whole installation and pairing process. By doing this you make sure that you have a clean installation. If you still do not get the firmware prompt nobody knows why. Maybe it pops up in a few days. I presume that you are aware that you can install by downloading the firmware and drag and drop onto your SD card. Then go to camera information on page 5 of the menu. Press on the first line onto firmware version then press onto firmware update. Make sure to be on FW 2.2.1. Leica made a great effort to fix as many bugs as they could find.
