Yes, that mode is a significant improvement over R5 Mark 1 for me. I believe no cameras have valid histograms/clipping in OVF simulation mode. At least I can quickly switch via a button press. Advertisement Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Hi SrMi, Take a look here EVF M rumoured. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
-ph- Posted April 9 Share #1462 Posted April 9 vor 10 Stunden schrieb TeleElmar135mm: ... sometimes I wonder how we were able to be able to work with analog film - or even today - and with an OVF without electronic aids. Where was the AI? To put it another way: The OVF fits the M like the mirror fits the analog SL and the EVF fits the digital SL. As we say in German: The “Eigerlegendewollmilchsau” (egglayingwoolmilkpig ?) does not exist. Of course I can make pictures with my M10. I even love it. The problem just is, anything wider than 50mm, I cannot frame well with the builtin viewfinder. And while I am very good at focusing with the range finder, there are lenses where it isn't always perfectly precise. So, when Leica wants to lure me into spending a whole lot of money on a new M, some improvements of the viewfinder situation would be more than welcome. I am not 100% sure, the EVF is to go, but a well made one would address the issues I named. There are also ways they could improve the optical rangefinder. That would be welcome too. AI isn't that important for a camera with manual focus. The biggest benefit I see from it is a really intelligent autofocus. That works quite well. Maybe someone eventually finds a way to improve exposure and white balance with AI. This might not be essential, but I wouldn't say no to improvements there. Leicaflex Posted April 10 Share #1464 Posted April 10 vor 23 Stunden schrieb Corius: The 256GB version is the M11-P, The M11 is 64GB and is discontinued. The point that I was making above is that the only difference between them is 256GB memory, a CA chip, Sapphire glass, a black viewfinder surround and top plate engraving. There's no real functional difference and discontinuing the M11 is very sensible of Leica given the prices are quite similar. So deleting the M11 gives no indication of what an EVF model or M12 will be. Maybe you are right and it‘s no indication for an M12. It could have something to do with production ressources. There are only so many camera models Leica can produce at a time … and if there comes an EVF M it will be in high demand.

Yes, it was still on the UK store when I checked a couple of days ago, but I don't think many would opt for that when, as you say, the M11-P price is not a great deal more. Well for a ‘premium brand’ having stock marked down like that is a disaster. All of these companies like to run the line ‘a discount for a Porsche? I’m sorry sir, this isn’t a Ford’. All the more reason for Leica to pull if retailers are knocking £££ off the price!

Mfaoro Posted April 10 Share #1473 Posted April 10 This is from Leica Rumor’s Facebook story. Another photo showed the same camera sitting on a dark table with the Leica hq in the background. Is this an older camera that I don’t recognize or could this be the m11v or whatever its name will be? Welcome, dear visitor! John in Nassau Posted April 11 Share #1474 Posted April 11 I for one can’t wait to see this camera released. it will always be a personal preference on evf vs OVF. The big questions in my mind are price point and body design. if it takes the more likely route and comes in at current M11 pricing and current M11 body size… hard to say. If some rumors are right and it comes in slightly smaller and (dare to dream) closer to Q in pricing… game changer in my mind. Who knows but I can’t imagine Leica releasing anything new until the crazy tariff issue is resolved. John

It looks more like variations of the Q.

John Well, Leica might give some thought to the international economic situation but they sell worldwide. The USA is about the same size as their internal German market, for instance. I don’t see this interfering with any introduction planning short-term.

These look to be a current Q3-43, Q3, and either a yet to be announced Q3 Reporter Edition or an older Q2 Reporter.
Flu Posted April 11 Share #1478 Posted April 11 I've been taking a long break (2 yrs +) from shooting any photos with real cameras and lenses. Mainly on my phone or DJI pocket3 nowadays. If this camera (EVF - M) does actually come to fruition, I think I have to make a resurrection!

Mainly on my phone or DJI pocket3 nowadays. If this camera (EVF - M) does actually come to fruition, I think I have to make a resurrection! Nothing wrong with a phone - it’s still the thing I use most if I just want to capture the memory. The fact is, in this day and age, it’s unrivalled in terms of size and convenience vs quality of image - especially if you’re not intending to do extensive post work. I also discovered the ‘slowing down’ notion of photography is not actually controlled by a camera type like a rangefinder, it’s a mindset. You can be as quick as you like with an M, or as slow as you like with a phone or even dslr. Nothing forces you to press the shutter, I’m just usually in a rush capturing my son or whatever where the creative image is less important than the memory. Getting on topic I’ve been following the evf rumours. Probably wouldn’t buy one but I kept my lens for now just in case. They’d have to improve a lot of areas beyond a viewfinder change. But in my humble opinion the biggest mistake Leica could make is reduce the specs of the evf version like photographers that like evf somehow need or want a dumbed down or reduced spec model compared to the rangefinder. It should be the flagship or at least parallel. Seeing how my m11 performed combined with my experience of the q3 I’m not holding my breath for a great user experience or anything cutting edge. 100% certainty it will be at least twice the cost of any similarly spec’d rival.
