Bulk yes, but weight?

Interesting with these comparisons is, that DSLRs are a dying species and that the earlier M concept seems to be staying strong.

I think a digital version of the Canon AE-1 DSLR in its original dimensions would be a huge success. It's strange that Canon won't make one.

If you think the weight is not enough, you can always add extra weight to the neck strap😉

Funny aside: I play and restore vintage drums, and just ordered these exact washers for the tension rods. I saw this photo first thing in the morning with only 1/2 cup coffee and was like, wait, am I on the Leica forum or Amazon order page?

The relative fatness of the M240 is obvious when using it together with the M11, but it is not as bothering as it may look at first glance. If i had a choice between this fat an EVF-M with IBIS and a thinner one w/o IBIS i would happily choose the fat project. Not sure 3mm thickness difference have any relevance for photogs interested in the EVF-M anyway.

Panasonic are about to release a 44mp high readout speed sensor for their S1rii release. Maybe we will see a Leica variant of this sensor in an M soon.

Why does Leica M need such a sensor?

Maybe it will be fast enough to allow Leica to omit the mechanical shutter. It is a similar resolution to the Nikon z8/9 and they have only an electronic shutter so could be the ‘same’

I won't buy a camera without mechanical shutter.

It's funny, as the discussion goes on we're getting further and further away from the features that are quintessential Leica M.

I shot a Leica M6 with film rated at ISO800 on tour with bands in the early 90's. No autofocus, no EVF, no IBIS, no low light performance etc...

At least the music was better back then.

Different size, no viewfinder window, no shutter, but still some want to retain the M mount. I suppose it would have to have some sort of link to justify the 'M' tag.

It's strange that no one mentioned instant printing like in Sofort in their wish list😝

Recently, another "historic" M lens came onto the market, based on an old invoice.

Unfortunately, there have been hardly any new lenses for some time. The same applies to the SL series. Here it were “purchases” from Sigma or Panasonic.

Is this an indication that there are fundamental changes in the M-lens landscape - e.g. a different bayonet, more Noctilux-lenses, longer focal lengths coordinated with an EVF, even shorter close-up focus?

Having given this more thought after reading all these threads, a Q with an L mount would be the best solution, and the M remains as is.

It would make sense for the ranges.

I would like a 40/43mm M lens FWIW.

I would also like to shoot on 40/43. Unfortunately, the M does not have a frame for 40/43, and the EVF is not a full replacement for the OVF for me, where I can see what is happening outside the frame.
