Old discussion Almost all my focusings are made with the EVF from 15mm to 135mm since i have an M11. I prefer the RF mode in low light when digital noise is too strong in the EVF but otherwise the Visoflex 2 sits pretty much all the time on my M11. YMMV.

Fair point — though it’s hard to miss that some treat the arrival of this camera with truly intergalactic importance, at least within our tiny Leica M universe. Even Leica calls it a landslide or something like that. Hopefully my own attempt at humor wasn’t lost somewhere in deep space ...😉 1

rramesh Posted Sunday at 01:17 AM Share #3306 Posted Sunday at 01:17 AM (edited) The advantage of a Visoflex is this. One can remove it if not needed. Plus the Visoflex gets obsoleted sooner than an M, even with the latter's sensor, motherboard and electronics. The Visoflex on my M9 fell apart in less than 2 years. I hate to carry around a working photo capture device with some parts obsoleted. Edited Sunday at 01:18 AM by rramesh

Because it really won't be anything "new" Based on the latest rumors, it will be an M11 with a different viewport. Easier to focus (for many), and provides full-time wysiwyg exposure preview. It will come down to the clarity and speed of the EVF for me to even consider it [at least SL or better], and even if I do, I am unsure why I would want to lose around AU$5k on my M11 to replace it with an M11... It really has to be an outstanding experience for this to happen, solve all my glasses framing issues and be something I absolutely love.

kiwidad Posted Sunday at 09:50 AM Share #3314 Posted Sunday at 09:50 AM Maybe AF is an option with M lenses incorporating an adapter like Nikon did years back on the F3AF with the TC-16af adapter. Downside was the 1.6x multiplier

Bags for me also tend to be more about what needs to travel with the camera and whether it might rain! I fail to see how countries is even relevant? As for counrties, anyone allowing M cameras should be fine but i'm not sure to understand the question.

All still making pictures the equal of 'new' stuff. 😉 Me too! Just bought a Nikon D800E (no longer 'supported', ie. no spares). Great and still highly capable camera. Bit heavy though. Pretty cheap now too. My wife still uses Canon 5D2s and again, within their operating envelope they still perform very well indeed. My M9s probably fall into this category too. That said there is little to persuade me that I should pay a large sum of money to buy any of the latest and greatest. I don't need their 'advantages' (usually low noise at higher ISOs) so there are few reasons to 'upgrade'. And if I am honest this probably applies to my M9s. To me an M9 with a few more (mid-20s) MPixels, totally manual operation and a higher ISO capability and slightly extended dynamic range would be a really innovative but it probably wouldn't have a specification which would sell these days. It would though be a very functional photographic tool. 2

Few post have actually discussed its genuine viability as an image creating camera, other than assuming that it might be easier on older eyes. Because it’s hard to imagine that viability in comparison! If it happens, a true “give them what they want” idea that is hard to imagine a hit in real use. Manual focus only EVF for a higher cost than any more advanced design with AF? Perhaps this is no longer a camera meant to capture dynamic moments or used in documentary scenarios, just for flowers, cars, landscapes, still portraits. Not an M in a real sense nor in spirit then either. Have people used EVF much for documentary work? Not ideal compared to a rangefinder. Leica is easy to laugh at, but if this idea is real it would take the cake to my mind, moreso than the watch. I’d guess most that think it’s easier on the eyes haven’t used an EVF in extended use. Who in this world wants more screen time? I’d hope Leica Blackstone is smart enough not to spend time on this but that remains to be seen. ok, I’m sure there are a few, but count me as definitively not getting it. (In the actual or the conceptual sense). that said, if they are doing this, and somehow make the design more usable and practical than I’m able to imagine, I’ll be happy to eat my words (but not buy it).
