What I'm poking at, and do so often on this forum, is not constantly citing what the M can't do, but showing that with a bit of practice and creativity, it can actually do most things. The M has an envelope within which it is a very capable system. Beyond that there are better photographic solutions.

Derbyshire Man Posted September 21 Share #2545 Posted September 21 Agree, it’s a far cry from the absolute pleasure of an M with a Summicron C 40mm or similar.
T25UFO Posted September 21 Share #2546 Posted September 21 While watching Manchester United vs. Chelsea on Sky Sports I noticed an intriguing advert on the electronic display behind the goal. Surely, Leica are not advertising at Old Trafford ahead of the new M launch? Welcome, dear visitor! AlanJW Posted September 21 Share #2552 Posted September 21 No anxiety here. And I am an old fart M user. That means I prefer the old fashioned but it also means my eyesight is not what it was 20 years ago. My right eye doesn't work very well and so its tough for me to see outside the frame that way. With just the left eye (which is no longer perfect) I have found "seeing outside the frame" is workable only for 50mm lenses. For a 35 there is little outside the frame, and for anything wider there is nothing. For longer lenses (like 90 or 135) the frame is too small for me. So I will buy an EVF M to be able to continue to use my M lenses, with the additional bonus of being able to see and calibrate exposure on the fly. Yes, the Visoflex II can do that, but I prefer a smaller built in solution. If you don't like what Leica comes out with in an EVF-M don't buy one. But I don't think I am alone in my thinking that a camera like that will help me, and I really don't see the point of trashing either the idea or the people who will buy one. 5

darlesch Posted September 21 Share #2554 Posted September 21 “The iconic M reimagined” Were they are any brands or logos with that banner advertisement? All I see is “United Store.” Did it transition to a Leica logo?

There have been a number of generic articles about the rangefinder mechanism and its complexity (LFI etc) to maybe explain lower price of EVF body. I am sure there will be many interested. Have you ever actually used an EVF-M? It doesn't automatically mean that it will be better for poor eyesight and in some cases can make it worse. In fact had a young woman ask me the other day why she was getting eye migraines while using her Sony for extended periods. They do that to me too, and at times can make me feel like I'm having a seizure. So be careful what you wish for. I'm 61 FTR.
