Advertisement Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Hi costa43, Take a look here EVF M rumoured. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jpark114 Posted February 8 Share #2 Posted February 8 Interesting. Hope M12 and so called "M-EVF" are different lines of product. Anyway, that mockup is so ugly...
JNK100 Posted February 8 Share #3 Posted February 8 I hope this doesn't happen. 1
evikne Posted February 8 Share #4 Posted February 8 (edited) Too bad Steven isn't here anymore. Nor does he respond to written inquiries, because someone leaked his information. Edited February 8 by evikne 2
lct Posted February 8 Share #5 Posted February 8 Good news. If the EVF-M (or M-EVF?) has IBIS i can keep my M11 and let go my M240 that i'm still using for low shutter speeds.
SiggiGun Posted February 8 Share #6 Posted February 8 (edited) I I understand there are 3 discussions ongoing in the forum . There a finally 3 questions: Is the next Leica M a M with IBIS ? Is the next Leica M equipped with a EVF replacing the "Messsucher" Will this MEVF be a new branch in the M family and the M11 etc. will still exists ? All this questions are interessting. But at the end, Leica will us surprise, again. Edited February 8 by SiggiGun

At least the third question is not formulated as a ‘fork in the road ahead’. 🥲 Why not combine? (My wife loves her X100 experience).
darylgo Posted February 8 Share #9 Posted February 8 (edited) What sensor? I'm in, pending kidney health is acceptable to donor program and if it has ibis. Edited February 8 by darylgo 2

Which perhaps sheds some light on the reliability of this old (yawn) rumor. 1

If you're open, you will switch to EVF.
costa43 Posted February 8 Author Share #13 Posted February 8 Personally, I dislike the notion of only a touchscreen and no physical buttons. That would be an instant deal breaker for me. I spend 4 months a year in gloves! I also like the haptic feel of buttons and dials. Hopefully this part of the rumour is not accurate.
3D-Kraft.com Posted February 8 Share #14 Posted February 8 (edited) I could imagine that Leica would launch a test balloon with such a variant of the M11. Its success or failure could then determine the final design of the M12 (or the decision to have two different models). The question is how much "M" would still be in such an M-EVF. There could still be a mechanical sensor on the lens coupling that controls certain visualizations in the EVF. lct Posted February 8 Share #15 Posted February 8 The roller cam should remain to allow for auto zoom with M lenses.
FrozenInTime Posted February 8 Share #16 Posted February 8 I think they have to try a new strategy - it is unlikely the SL3 system is bringing in the revenues they had hoped for, so the EVF-M now makes financial sense. Most of the technological solutions needed are visualisable from the M11, Q3 and SL3. However after not demonstrating a stacked sensor in the SL3-S, I fear they can rush a winning concept into an underwhelming flop ( bolting a Q3 EVF onto S9 electronics and packaging in a M shaped body ). Einst_Stein Posted February 8 Share #17 Posted February 8 EVF M? What makes it different from, say SL2 or SL3? I have it now! 2

M mount and form factor being two obvious ones but I would assume (hope) for a more intuitive manual focus experience, maybe an electronic form of a rangefinder patch or some kind of focus confirmation. Then the rumored M EVF might be compete with Sony A7CR or the coming A7CRII. What M EVF should have, besides the Leica Red Dot?
