Their business model revolves around dressing up one camera design a few times and selling it over 4 years or so.

..while pushing incremental firmware updates that make the camera work a little bit more reliably to keep it interesting 🙂

These things won't make a dent in normal models sitting in retail. Only so many multi-millionaire/billionaire collectors to sell special editions to. But it is quick cash to pander to the collectors market. Thing is, just how 'collectible' is an odd city branded M11 compared to say an original black paint M3?

My guess would be not very collectible at all. I would actually pay less for one that had my home town on the top plate. My preference would be for the classic 'Made in Germany'.

After a nights sleep, I am actually very, very annoyed about this way of celebrating 100 years. A very slightly redesigned, 3 year old camera and 600 USD Teddy Bears? Seriously, Leica??

The bear has a significant number of changes that are not noticeable, they are hidden under the hood (improved hardware and firmware). Help from Panasonic came in handy. 😂

If the bear freezes, do you have to pull the stuffing out and shove it back in? Might get a bit lumpen shaped after a few restarts....

Six cities, 100 each, will it be difficult to get one?  Anyone planning a purchase?  Waiting lists?  Will batteries be available at Leica 200?

don't really want to use harsh words, but have no choice... it is a discriminatory move by leica...my city is excluded...shame

The way its designed, I can't stop suspecting that Leica is only trying to get rid of M11 stocks.   I'm not keen on all these limited edition stuffs, but at least bring 100 one in a real limited sense, like a different color/coating/texture etc.

Wait until they release the Bear-D variant. It will be $800 and not have a face.

They are planning on releasing a Steiff 'Polar Bear Special Edition' to combat any Freezing Issues....

I get the cities they chose were for luxury status, but in a 100 year look back, you might think Solms, or Porto or Canada would get a mention on something, like a lumberjack bear or a sardine fisherman bear maybe.

the last good edition was the 60. they didn't put in much effort into 100

Agree, it should have looked closer to an M3 for sure. Like the LHSA MP3 for example. But let‘s see I am open for any surprise…

Why an M11, could they not have sprung for the bigger 256GB memory and Credentials?

Perhaps they have way too many excess parts that they cobbled together for this model such as 64GB internal memory.
